The work, Indian Melodies, is a shape?notehymnal published as a contribution to the hymnody of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was published in 1845.Guitar Sonata on themes by Thomas Commuck is a traditional four?movement work with an opening sonatamovement (Mooanam); a double variation form (Menominie and Susquehannah); a canonic minuet with trio (Pequot and Missouri; and a closing prelude with fugue (Flathead). The melodies are labeled as they appear throughout the score, though not always with reference to their original forms. March tempo is probably 140 to 150 per quarter note.  Appropriate for picnics, the parlor, the patriotic, or parishioners in church especially for Memorial day, fourth of July.  It will work in a Dixieland style. This version was arranged for solo guitar in fingerstyle by Fernando Neves in the key of E minor and Time signature 6/8.  It is perfect for congregational worship, church services, weddings, funerals or for personal reflection. An arrangement for solo fingerstyle guitar in DGDGAD tuning of the traditional Christmas Carol, In The Bleak Midwinter.  DGDGAD tuning is one I use often, and really works well on guitar.  In essence, it's just open G tuning with the second string tuned down a step to A.  This adjustment of the second string opens more possibilities for harp style playing melodically.  A great holiday addition to any guitarists repertoire for gigging, church, or just personal enjoyment.  Easy intermediate level.

Check out the wonderful contrast in movement between the flute and bass. This arrangement of Xmas carols would be a wonderful addition to any future holiday program. Well done Keith! Have fun! Caroling (singing carols in the street) is one of the oldest customs in Great Britain, going back to the Middle Ages when beggars, seeking food, money, or drink, would wander the streets singing holiday songs..

The song, from the Cambridge lute book (D.D.2.11), relates to the traditional pigrimage to the Church of Our Lady at Walsingham, Norfolk, which was a shrine famous for miracles. Since priory there was dissolved in 1538, the tune is clearly a very old one.
