Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1150599 Composed by Bach, JS. Arranged by Nick Mordal. Baroque,Classical,Early Music,Folk,Renaissance. Individual part. 2 pages. Nick Mordal #750778. Published by Nick Mordal (A0.1150599). Bach's Prelude in C Minor for lute has been transposed to D minor and is arranged for the classical guitar. This is a great piece to learn arpeggio technique and familiarity with the higher notes on the fretboard. It is common in the guitar repertoire; a version of it can also be found in the Modern Approach to Classical Guitar book 2 by Charles Duncan. However, I have made my arrangement of this piece by staying slightly truer to the original. It is very similar to Duncan's version, but a little more advanced.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.987853 Composed by Robert M. Greenberg. 20th Century. Individual part. 21 pages. Robert M. Greenberg #115407. Published by Robert M. Greenberg (A0.987853). Preferred Contact Information: RMonteverdi@comcast.net Performing Rights Organization: BMI Website: robertgreenbergmusic.com Facebook Band Page: facebook.com/RobertGreenbergMusic Duration: ca. 21 minutes Year of composition: 1996 Program Note: I. Toccata/Hands of Steel II. Strum/Serenade III. O Tanenbaum (Toccata reprise) IV. Two-Part Contention V. John Doe VI. True Pluck A number of years ago, the great English guitarist Julian Bream told David Tanenbaum - the dedicatee of tonight's premiere - not to premiere a guitar work unless he knew for a fact it was the composer's second guitar work. Sage advice. The guitar is an instrument that gives up its secrets to a non-guitar playing composer only reluctantly. Indeed, the timbral, digital and chordal subtleties of this most subtle and intimate instrument are truly understood by the guitarist only. Pity the outlander who composes for the guitar for the first time! With this last thought in mind I had, until last fall, managed to avoid writing a guitar piece. However, even the most abject compositional coward will relent when a musician like David Tanenbaum asks for a piece and offers his assistance and critical judgement in its composition. So it was with PLUCK, composed between November of 1995 and January of 1996. Bream's advice notwithstanding, PLUCK is my first guitar piece. Tanenbaum is brave. The title, PLUCK, thus refers to both the action of plucking strings as well as pluck - bravery, grit, true grit. PLUCK is written in six interrelated movements. The first movement, Toccata/Hands of Steel introduces much of the essential pitch and harmonic material of the piece, as well as Flamenco-style rasgueado strumming which, try as I might, I could not resist using. Movement two, Strum/Serenade, explains itself in its title. Movement three, O Tanenbaum (a designation for which David has forgiven me) reprises the Toccata and describes, well, a sort of musical tree (David has forgiven me for this, too). Two-Part Contention is a combatative, argumentative movement that pits the treble strings of the guitar against the bass. Movement 5, John Doe is a lyric and mysterious moment of rest before the manic finale. Movement 6, True Pluck, is a fast, furious and virtuosic finale. PLUCK is dedicated, with greatest respect and affection, to my friend David Tanenbaum. May he only want to play my second guitar piece.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.914748 Composed by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788). Arranged by Eric J Roth. Baroque,Classical. Individual part. 2 pages. Eric J Roth #6017047. Published by Eric J Roth (A0.914748). La Caroline, H. 98 (Wq. 117/36) is one of dozens of short character pieces of great charm written by the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788), oldest son of Johann Sebastian Bach. As a composer, CPE Bach occupied an interesting transitional space between baroque and classical music and certainly helped to usher in the stylistic traits of the latter into general popular usage. The piece here is arranged for classical guitar solo at an intermediate level. It is more a transcription than a true arrangement, and every attempt has been made to keep the music as close to the original as possible. All fingerings are editorial, and most ornaments, except for trills, have been written out rather than notated with a symbol. However, many expert pianists embellish these ornaments (sometimes very lavishly), particularly on repeats, and expert guitarists will likely want to do the same. Since the original music was written an octave higher and to be played on the delicate-sounding keyboard instruments of the 18th century, some guitarists may want to experiment with using a capo to better create a more period-appropriate sound.Bach marks the tempo as Allegro ma con tenerezza (fast but with tenderness) and most keyboardists take it a moderate to quick tempo. On the guitar, which has a different resonance, the piece can also be convincing played at somewhat slower tempos, but certainly nothing slower than a true andante.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.914747 Composed by Benjamin Godard (1849-1895). Arranged by Eric J Roth. Romantic Period. Individual part. 14 pages. Eric J Roth #5867073. Published by Eric J Roth (A0.914747). Benjamin Godard (1849-1895) was a French  violinist and composer of Jewish heritage. He wrote hundreds of works, including  symphonies, operas, concertos, chamber and solo pieces, and songs. Today he is  most remembered for his five symphonies and the Berceuse from his opera,  Jocelyn. In style, Godard's music is reminiscent of the early Romantic  period rather than the more grandiose style of Wagner. Godard wrote two sonatas for solo violin. The first dates from the 1870s. The  second was composed in the 1890s and published after his death. Both sonatas contain four movements and employ baroque dance forms. The Deuxiéme (second) Sonata,  arranged here for guitar solo, opens with a Sarabande in A minor, marked molto  moderato e pompasamente (very moderately and pompously). The following Rigodon in C major is quick and convivial, although a contrasting section in C  minor tempers the mood. The third movement, Adagio non ma troppo, begins in a  tranquil F major. The texture soon thickens and makes striking use of the  instrument’s lower register. A sudden modulation to F minor provides the  sonata's most introspective moment. The piece returns to A minor and ends in a dramatic  cliffhanger on the dominant. The rhythmic Bourrée serves as a true  finale and includes a frenetic contrapuntal section recalling the violin  sonatas of J. S. Bach.

Solo Guitar - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277898 By Aphex Twin. By Richard D James. Arranged by Jonathan Godfrey. 21st Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 3 pages. Jonathan Godfrey #869599. Published by Jonathan Godfrey (A0.1277898). Aphex Twin closes out the monumental 2014 album Syro with the haunting balad Aisatsana, composer Richard James's wife's name spelled backwards. It was originally written for a player piano suspended on a swinging pendelum that created the Doppler Effect for the listener. This swinging would be replaced on the album with the simple yet ethereal atmosphere of bird-song.This guitar arrangement includes fingerings that emphasize the sustain each note, which gives it a lush character that is true to the original. It can be performed on classical or acoustic fingerstyle guitar.

Solo Guitar - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802998 Composed by LINCOLN BRADY. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,World. Individual part. 9 pages. LINCOLN BRADY #1985881. Published by LINCOLN BRADY (A0.802998). Inspired by the true story of the ancient greek statue - 'DANCING SATYR' (in Mazara del Vallo) - discovered by fishermen off the coast of Sicily in 1998 after having lain on the Mediterranean ocean floor for over 2,000 years. Following five years of careful refurbishment in Rome's 'Istituto Centrale per il Restauro' this amazing bronze statue, probably from the school of Praxiteles, was restored almost to its former glory with its head and torso remaining largely intact, incredibly! The 'Dancing Satyr' was then taken on a global tour, including Japan and the Louvre in Paris, where it drew very large crowds capturing the world's imagination. It is now housed in a purpose-built museum in Sicily - 'Museo del Satiro'. The first movement - INTRODUZIONE - begins in a neo-Italian Baroque style , with ancient undertones, in homage to the statue's current home where it has received great care and attention. The music then proceeds in a more modern and programmatic vein conjuring the disastrous sinking of the ship carrying this masterpiece in ancient times and its loss to the inky depths below. The second movement - DANZA - is much lighter in mood celebrating its recovery and conveying the joyous expression of the 'Dancing Satyr' with its arched back and head thrown back in ecstatic abandonment, brilliantly portrayed by its original sculptor. Here the musical language is more influenced by the rhythms of Greek folk music while incorporating modern guitar idioms and harmonic concepts as in the first movement.

Solo Guitar - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291149 Composed by Henry Mancini. Arranged by Christopher J. Malin. 20th Century,Contemporary,Jazz,Pop,Standards. Individual part. 1 pages. Christopher J. Malin #881827. Published by Christopher J. Malin (A0.1291149). Solo jazz guitar chord/melody arrangement with tablature. Very seldom heard standard in this syle.Super cool jazz song that is quirky and open to improvising. Mancini got this right! This piece will make you a cut above the rest! The tag at the end is just begging you to improvise over the chord structure. The fade out has to be practised but can be done with a volume pedal or just play it lightly as you go. It will impress.Sounds great on acoustic and electric guitars. Tried and true.
