Guitar - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.797757 Composed by Johann Pachelbel + Traditional Cornish. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Baroque,Christmas,Classical. 14 pages. Derek Hasted #4847685. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.797757). PACHELBEL'S CAROL - a piece with a twist in the tail - 6 GUITARS/LARGE ENSEMBLE For Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes Pachelbel's Carol - a piece for 6 guitars (or a large ensemble) with a twist in the tail! Before you purchase - please note that I have also arranged this piece in 5 parts. You can find it most easily from my website (below) - select the quintet page.It was quite a few years ago that I conceived and arranged this fun little Christmas piece. Since then I’ve performed it many times in concert, and it’s always particularly well received. The arpeggios and countermelodies are inspired by the repeating sequences in Pachelbel’s Canon, and they end up providing a rich and totally unexpected accompaniment to a verse and chorus of the famous Christmas Carol 'The First Nowell'.This piece is just perfect as a special item in a Christmas concert, because the title conceals the surprise in the piece - each phase brings in another guitar part, making the piece build slowly before the final guitar launches into the well-known carol. The parts are easy and suitable for an ensemble with limited experience or one with limited chances to rehearse. In a mixed ability ensemble, there’s something for everyone; in a school guitar group, the teacher can take the Guitar 6 part if no-one in the group is comfortable in fifth position - all the other parts are first position.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

Guitar - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102371 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Simon James. Baroque,Chamber,Christmas,Classical,Instructional. 10 pages. DML #705777. Published by DML (A0.1102371). In dulci jubilo (Latin for In sweet rejoicing) is a traditional Christmas Carol which has become a mainstay of the Christmas Nine Lessons and Carols repertoire. Johann Sebastian Bach set this melody several times: as a chorale in BWV 368; and then for organ in BWV 608 as a double canon in his Orgelbüchlein. Clearly he was fond of the tune and who can blame him. This arrangement of BWW 608 follows almost exactly the four original voices from the canon. It is not difficult to play technically but the rhythm is challenging.

Published by Jeremiah Lawson (A0.1452092). Thomas Commuck (1804 to 1855) was a member of the Narragansett tribe and is considered the first NativeAmerican to publish a musical work using Western European notation. The work, Indian Melodies, is a shape?notehymnal published as a contribution to the hymnody of the Methodist Episcopal Church and was published in 1845.Guitar Sonata on themes by Thomas Commuck is a traditional four?movement work with an opening sonatamovement (Mooanam); a double variation form (Menominie and Susquehannah); a canonic minuet with trio (Pequot and Missouri; and a closing prelude with fugue (Flathead). The melodies are labeled as they appear throughout the score, though not always with reference to their original forms. I made a few gentle modifications to Commuck’s melodies to better facilitate their use in polyphonic textures. You can hear the second movement herehttps://youtu.be/OR8NMAyXlRkand the third movement herehttps://youtu.be/OjF7SxlQok0I'm publishing this work in June 2024 to commemorate the centennial of the Indian Citizenship Act of 1924.
