This part is for the B flat clarinet, preferably in a concert band setting. In this piece, the clarinet takes a leading role for most of the piece along with the flute and alto saxophone. The clarinetist must be able to play up to an altissimo A before playing. The part contains a wide variety of musical elements, pitch, rhythm, tempo, key etc. The piece is divided into different sections by two or three bar rests, that can prepare the performer for the next section. A clarinetist playing the piece must be wary of the key signature, as for some parts of the song, the key signature can catch out beginning clarinetists. In a non-concert band setting, the large rests of three bars should be ignored. They contain solos from other instruments that should only be recognised in a concert band.
