Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1024060 Composed by John Dorhauer. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and Parts. 126 pages. John J Dorhauer #59173. Published by John J Dorhauer (A0.1024060). Back to School 2015 This standalone movement balances chaotic, breakneck ensemble writing with placid, luscious quieter moments. Inspired by the fifth chapter of the Book of Revelation, the music vividly depicts the duality of the lion/lamb character (hence the plurality of the title), and the ample use of mixed meter and solo opportunities (particularly for flute and percussion) will offer an engaging challenge to most high school ensembles. Although this is the middle movement of a three-movement work, it works in its own self-contained world. Contact information: johnjdorhauer@gmail.com PRO: ASCAP Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/JohnDorhauer?fref=ts / https://twitter.com/JohnDorhauer Duration: 9 minutes Year of Release: 2011 Program Notes: This composition is intended to function on two different levels: it is simultaneously a programmatic depiction of the events that unfold in Revelation 5 and a musical representation of the duality found in the scripture. It was this sense of duality that persuaded me to keep the s at the end of Revelation in the title – it is as if there are multiple revelations to be found within both the scripture and my musical interpretation of it. In the book of Revelation, the prophet John is sharing an apocalyptic vision to a group of churches in Asia as a means of hope – even though these people were being persecuted for their beliefs, John promises the rapture in which God will save the believers and destroy the nonbelievers. The fifth chapter begins with John’s ascension to heaven, and it concludes just before the Christ-like Lion of Judah breaks the seals of the scroll that will unleash the rapture. While this is intended to be a message of hope, it will also bring about cataclysmic death and destruction. Herein lies the duality – how can a message of hope come as the result of such a violent outcome? Movement II (of three) corresponds with only verse 6, and it is more of a character study than a programmatic narrative. It examines the Lion of Judah character, which is portrayed at first as an overwhelming and aggressive figure after it approaches from the distance in the hazy beginning section. This character is also depicted in the scripture as a lamb, though, and this is reflected in the piece’s latter half, which is a softer reimagining of the Lion character’s material. The Lion and the Lamb are not two different characters but, rather, different sides of the same character. It is this duality that drives the movement, and it explains the connections between these otherwise distinct sections. This movement was originally performed by the CCPA Wind Ensemble in April 2010 when it received first place in CCPA’s wind ensemble composition contest.

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1438061 By Andrew Gold. By Andrew Gold. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 45 pages. John Ivor Holland #1018130. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1438061). Never Let Her Slip Away is a song written by American musician Andrew Gold, who recorded it for his third album, 'All This and Heaven Too' (1978). The single reached number five on the UK Singles Chart and number 67 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1978. Queen frontman Freddie Mercury contributed harmony vocals to the song, as an uncredited background singer. A 1992 cover version by British dance outfit Undercover was also an international hit. As revealed in his album liner notes, Gold wrote Never Let Her Slip Away about meeting actress and Saturday Night Live cast member Laraine Newman, who was his girlfriend when he composed the song; Dave Grohl of the rock band Foo Fighters called the song the most beautiful piece of music ever written, and maybe one of the most melodically sophisticated songs I've ever heard in my entire life. This joyful little song swings along with lovely melodic twists and turns and gorgeous harmonies, allowing your band to bring back the nostalgic, carefree sound of the Seventies.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1265062 By Boyce Avenue. By Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Arranged by Jason Howard. Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show,Pop. Score and Parts. 40 pages. Jason Howard #857689. Published by Jason Howard (A0.1265062). Thank you for you're interest in my arrangement one of The Greatest Showman's greatest hits! This arrangement of Never Enough is for concert band with an optional vocal soloist. The work starts out with the simple piano arpeggios that really hooked my ear on the original, before leading into an intimate blend of woodwind timbres and flowing percussive melodies for the first verse. Low Brass lead the work into the first chorus, where a Horn solo carries the emotion to the first full ensemble hit that pushes through until the end of the work where sudden silence and soft, warm extended chord punctuates the piece. This piece was written with advanced high school and higher level musicians in mind. Though the pieces isn't incredibly difficult overall, the range asked of some of the performers and the raw emotion that this work represents demands a level of training. The score will likely be better printed on Legal sized paper to help with readability, but the parts are all easily printable on standard 8.5x11 copy paper.Instrumentation:Flute 1 & 2*Oboe*Bb Clarinet 1 & 2Bb Clarinet 3*Bass ClarinetAlto Saxophone 1Alto Saxophone 2Tenor SaxophoneBaritone SaxophoneBb Trumpet 1 & 2Bb Trumpet 3Horn in F 1 & 3*Horn in F 2 & 4*Trombone 1Trombone 2Eupnonium*TubaOptional Solo VoicePianoGlockenspielChimesXylophoneMarimbaConcert Bass DrumSuspended Cymbal*Part includes a solo sectionI hope that you and your group enjoys my arrangement! I have quite a bit of experience with arranging of various types of vocal and instrumental ensembles and combos. Most are for personal use, but as I get time, I hope to publish more and more for public consumption! Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.750785 Composed by E. T. Paull (1908). Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Contemporary. Score and parts. 115 pages. BJE Music #3567783. Published by BJE Music (A0.750785). The Home Coming March (1908) - Concert Band Score and Parts PDF Music by: ET Paull Of course, eventually, all the soldiers and sailors had to eventually come home from all the battles and Paull had that eventuality well covered also. The artwork on the front cover (of unknown origin) is one that is full of imagery that covers all aspects of the services, Army and Navy and is full of patriotic and familial ideals. The border lists all of the US States and the corner pictures depict aspects of homecoming. The main image is a parade of victory. Let's let Paull explain it all to us as he did on the inside cover. Why This Piece Of Music Was Named The Home Coming March   Explanatory When the author had about completed the music of the present march, it occurred to him that it might be well to have suggestions made from a number of people, recommending a good name for same, for after all there is considerable in a name. He, therefore, had a special advertisement placed in several of the leading music Journals throughout the country, offering a prize of $10.00 in gold to anyone suggesting a name that would be accepted. Over three thousand names were sent in from all parts of the country, even from far away New Zealand and Australia, in which countries the author's marches are universal favorites. Included in the letters received was one from Mr. W. C. Bates, Secretary of the Sheffield Advertising Agency of New York and Chicago, in which he suggested the name The Home Coming March. After due consideration, this name was accepted, and the prize was awarded and paid to Mr. Bates, who stated that he was prompted to recommend this name on account of having been present during the impressive celebration of Old Home Week in Boston, Mass., last year. Probably no one idea is so universally dominant in the mind of the Human Race as that of home, or matters pertaining to home. The author believes that the name selected is one that will appeal to everyone; as the many pleasant associations with the words Home Coming are almost without limit. The title page of this march is without any exception the handsomest seen on a piece of music. The main body of the title pace represents a street scene, with buildings decorated and shows a handsome royal Arch of Welcome in the foreground, gaily decorated with flags, emblems, and bunting. A band is shown passing under the arch, leading a procession of the Home Guard, and thousands of people waving handkerchiefs, banners, flags, etc. Four smaller scenes also appear on the page, one representing the Home Coming of the soldier from war; another scene shows the Home Coming of the sailor boys embarking from their battleships; another scene represents the Home Coming reunion of the family and loved ones; the fourth scene represents the Home Coming of the father from work, where a little tot has been watching and waiting, and runs to meet him. The whole design of the title page is then surrounded by a border of differently designed medallions, on which appears the names of all the States of the Union, making without a doubt, the most unique and attractive title page ever conceived for a piece of music. One thing Paull mastered early in his career was the art of overstatement! Musically, this march is beginning to show the repetitiveness of many of Paull's works, especially evident as time passed. Once Paull found the formula (a fabulous cover and a playable, rousing march) that sold music, he stuck with it and was quite successful as a result. This arrangement is for Full Concert Band with the original optional piano part ( Not on the score).  There are parts for Trombones 1 and 2 in TC and BC as well as parts of Euphonium in TC and BC.  The MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.Grade = 3.5  Duration =.

M45 is the Messier catalog number for an open star cluster better known as the Pleiades. Oot-kwa-tah is dedicated to Schenectady County Community College on the forty-fifth anniversary of the college’s establishment as part of the State University of New York. The college sits on land that was once part of the Mohawk nation of the Iroquois Confederacy. Oot-kwa-tah is inspired by the Iroquois legend of M45, the Pleiades star cluster. The Iroquois tell a story about seven children who met each day and danced for hours at a time instead of doing chores. An old man appeared to them one day as they danced. He shone magnificently like silver and was clad from head to toe in brilliant white feathers. The old man warned them to stop dancing lest something terrible happen to them. Ignoring the old man’s warning and growing more and more hungry and lightheaded the children began to rise into the air. If only they had listened to me, the old man thought. As the children’s parents gathered, one little boy heard his father’s voice below. The little boy looked down and saw his father. At that instant he fell back to earth. The other children continued to float higher and higher into the sky to become the Pleiades star cluster. The Iroquois call them Oot-kwa-tah and are reminded of these reckless children each time they see a falling star.

Concert Band - Digital Download SKU: A0.1008277 Composed by William Brenner. Contemporary. Score and parts. 50 pages. William Brenner #6090789. Published by William Brenner (A0.1008277). Jolt by William Brenner - Grade 1/2.5/4 (see below) For concert band __________________________________________________  We've been through strange times. We've been through many good and bad emotions. We have been recieving news, some good, some upsetting. Some days we are so happy, we want to jump everywhere and on others we want to bawl our eyes out. And that's how it is. Jolt plays through all of these emotions, the good and bad ones. It represent how sometimes, we are so happy about something, but it doesnt work out. It represents how sometimes, we hope for something that will never occur. It represents how sometimes in life, there are things that upset us. But in the end, we are stronger than those bad feelings. We are stronger than sadness, than the madness we sometimes feel dealing with those challenges. Sometimes we feel thrown around. At the end of the day, it will always get better. It will always work out. __________________________________________________  *As you may have noticed, this piece is graded with three different levels. Most instruments have two levels: beginner and advanced (grade 1 and 4), but some of the most common instruments in a concert band (flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet and percussion) have an extra intermediate level (grade 2.5). This piece has been written for bands or classes that have student of different levels, but still want to play together. I hope that this project will be useful and will help keep students motivated to play music even though the situation is unusual.  Best regards,  The composer, William Brenner.

John Ivor Holland #880995. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1290288). The Haunted Ballroom is a one-act ballet, in three scenes and an interlude, with music and libretto by Geoffrey Toye (former musical director for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company) and choreography by Ninette de Valois. It was first produced in London in 1934, and was revived several times, but much of the choreography is now lost. The ballet is a Gothic melodrama about a fatal family curse, involving dancing with ghostly partners. The original cast included Robert Helpmann (The Child Catcher from 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang') and a young Margot Fonteyn. This arrangement for modern concert band of the main theme from the ballet has been prepared from the piano transcription by Reginald King. A charming slice of British light music for a more gentle addition to a Hallowe'en concert.
