It was premiered on 25 May 1878 in London theatre Opera comique and had one  of the highest performance rates of that time. The story is about love between people of different society classes on board of the British warship H.M.S. Pinafore  and mocks so about the British class system.  The arrangement of the overture is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra. Is was first time performed by Salzburg Wind  Philharmonic conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January 2023 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in  Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. On one of the shows, the celebrity guest was ballet star Doreen Wells who asked if she could dance to music of the Beatles. It fell to Wilkinson to arrange some of the hit songs for use by a ballerina. He hit on the idea of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite as a model; it was so popular that further movements were added for an EP recording and the complete Beatlecracker Suite is the result. The EP was issued throughout the world and was to be followed by an album if it did well enough, but it appears there was none. The movements are:1. Miniature Overture (Help!)2. March (When I'm 64)3.
