''Cristal'' is the name of a ''canindé macaw'' (this one on the cover) that lives loose in the city of Cavalcante, in Chapada dos Veadeiros. With other birds, it lives at Helia's bar where they are treated with great affection. 
The feeling of preservation combined with freedom was the inspiration for the composition of this piece that uses two genres as a base, the ijexá and the maxixe. 
The rhythmic characteristics of each of these genres were distributed among the instruments and guided by a cheerful melody. An opportunity to expand the repertoire and immerse in the rhythm and fusion of these two genres, ijexá and maxixe. 
An authorial piece that brings the genuinely Brazilian joy and can be used in contrast to dense pieces, make your band to fly high and free like Cristal Canindé.

Richard Georg Strauss (11 June 1864 – 8 September 1949) was a German composer and conductor best known for his tone poems and operas. Considered a leading composer of the late Romantic and early modern eras, he has been described as a successor of Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt. Along with Gustav Mahler, he represents the late flowering of German Romanticism, in which pioneering subtleties of orchestration are combined with an advanced harmonic style.

Der Rosenkavalier (The Knight of the Rose or The Rose-Bearer), Op. 59, is a comic opera in three acts by Richard Strauss to an original German libretto by Hugo von Hofmannsthal. It is loosely adapted from Louvet de Couvrai's novel Les amours du chevalier de Faublas and Molière's comedy Monsieur de Pourceaugnac.

In 1945 Strauss allowed an orchestral Rosenkavalier Suite to be published, but apparently was not involved in creating it.  It is likely that conductor Artur Rodzi?ski arranged it, as he conducted the suite's first performance, in October 1944 by the New York Philharmonic.

The suite begins with the opera's orchestral prelude, depicting the Marschallin's and Octavian's night of passion (vividly portrayed by whooping horns and saxophones). Next comes the appearance of Octavian as the Rosenkavalier, depicted in tender music; the sight of him looking so young makes the Marschallin realise that he will soon leave her for a younger woman. There follows the duet between Octavian and Sophie – in which their love for each other becomes ever more obvious, but this is abruptly interrupted by the discordant music associated with Ochs's clumsy arrival. Next the violins tentatively introduce the first waltz, followed by another given out by the solo violin, before the whole orchestra settles into waltz mode. A general pause and a violin solo leads into the nostalgic music where the Marschallin sadly realises she has lost Octavian. Then comes its ecstatic climax. The work closes with a singularly robust waltz, depicting Ochs at his most pompous, and a boisterous coda newly composed for the suite.

This Woman's Work was originally performed by Kate Bush (covered by American singer Maxwell in 2001, among others) and written for the climax of the film 'She's Having a Baby' (1988). It was also released as the second single from her album 'The Sensual World' (1989) peaking at 25 in the UK Singles Chart, making several reappearances over the years. Now available for concert band for the first time, this charismatic song provides elegant contrasts in mood and would be a great addition to any concert programme, particularly one showcasing the talents of women composers.

A symphonic representation of a caravan crossing a desert, the piece moves from a simple march feel slowly crescendoing to a brief climax before settling down for the softer center section. Following a fanfare to herald the next day's journey, the main melody builds through the band to a crashing finale.

Grade level would be 3-4. Primary key of piece is d minor, and while the central section technically changes keys, it is notated entirely with accidentals. Solos in flute, oboe, bassoon, bari sax, and trombone. The brass periodically reaches into their upper registers.

Cavalleria rusticana (Italian for rustic chivalry) is an opera in one act by Pietro Mascagni, adapted from an 1880 short story of the same name and subsequent play by Giovanni Verga. Considered one of the classic verismo operas, it premiered on 17 May 1890 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome. The opera's symphonic Intermezzo has figured in the sound track of several films, most notably in the opening of Raging Bull and in the finale of The Godfather Part III, which also featured a performance of the opera as a key part of the film's climax.
