An der schönen blauen Donau  (The Blue Danube) is known all over the world and every year a fixed encore at the New Year's Concert of  the Vienna Philharmonic broadcasted in most countries of the world. Previous to the orchestra version it was premiered on 15 February 1867  in a separate version with male-choir. So it is a real challenge to create an arrangement of this famous piece, which may dare a comparison  with the original. The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first  time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January  2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. The basis of this arrangement is the edition for tenor and piano by Agustín Lara with Spanish lyrics. It permitted a standalone orchestration for concert band without  relationship to an existing orchestra version as with a transcription. Lara wrote this song on the Spanish town Granada in  1932. The arrangement of this version premiered  with tenor Nutthaporn Thammathi and Wind Philharmonic Mozarteum Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer on 6 January 2014 in the Grosses Festspielhaus  (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. He created also a series of appealing  compositions in Viennese style. It's the first performance aria of Octavio,  a part for a powerfol tenor singer. Komzák even conducted his Baden spa orchestra at the World  Exhibition in Chicago 1904. His Folk Opera Edelweiss premiered in 1892 in Salzburg.
