Dance of the Mystic Dragon - This work for beginning band is a look into the mystic past of kings, queens, knights and dragons! This is an excellent teaching tool staying mostly in Concert Bb, but throwing in some accidentals in isolated places. It also has a unison voice part for the majority of the ensemble to give it that plainchant type of sound. This original composition depicts an epic tale with sweeping lines, especially in the horn parts. – A Dragon’s Realm – The Lost World will be part of a suite that also includes another composition of mine called – A Dragon’s Heart. There is also a version for Orchestra.

The Dragon's Lament for intermediate band - this work has three different endings depending on whether you want the dragon to sleep or wake up!
At first, a mournful melody plays while the dragon sleeps.
Then, the dragon awakes in a section with rhythmic energy.
At last, the dragon falls back into a peaceful slumber.

Originally written for the Play on Philly students at Freire Charter School.

Written in 3/4 meter Dragon Slayer will energize students.  Each layer of the opening melodic entrances provide both rhythmic and melodic intensity which leads to the middle section of the piece.  During the middle section the band creates a 'battle scene' for slaying the dragon.  It is suggested that directors use the written rhythmic and sound effects as a starting point, but allow students to create the best 'battle scene' for the band.
