Starting quietly, the sound slowly grows to a strong B section, then marches away into the distance. This G-minor work is ideal for any concert or festival. DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Medium Easy / Grade 2 / suitable for middle school or small high school bands FEATURES: - All winds (including tuba!) have melody at least once. - Simple trombone parts (generously cross-cued in Horn, Euphonium) - 2nd Clarinet remains below break. CHALLENGES: - Use of dotted-eighth/sixteenth rhythm in melody. - Use of low register for clarinets. (low E, F, G#) - Tuba solo (cued in other parts) - Muted Trumpet 1 solo (unison line with other instruments) - Dynamics; articulations; a few 16th-notes in all parts. RANGES: - All parts are well within 2nd-year ranges: Flute to E-flat above staff (only once); 1st Clarinet to C above staff; 2nd Clarinet remains below break; Trumpets to 3rd space C (1st Trumpet to E, once); Trombone to C above staff; Tuba to C on staff, down to D just below staff.
