Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927168 Composed by George Willson. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 73 pages. George Willson #3515727. Published by George Willson (A0.927168). The piece is at least a grade 3 due to competing time signatures, contrapuntal melodies, and persistent upper register work across several sections.Written during my time in the Army, this march emerged as a sort of musical joke. The melody and rhythm parts alternate between 6/8 and 2/4 (or 2 over 3) time throughout the piece with the quarter and dotted-quarter keeping the same beat. It incorporates nearly every march convention that my friend and I could think of from the low brass taking over the strain and piccolo obbligato to the baffling euphonium arpeggios in the final strain along with the equally bafflingly obnoxious trombone countermelody. At the same time, it breaks convention by granting the horn players the melodic line in the trio section instead of giving them the back beats they love so much. One of the stranger jokes whose meaning one might miss is the mix up of beats at the key change which was done deliberately to put the generals and first sergeants out of step. It also contains a symphony's worth of stingers at the end (because 19-year-old me was hilarious ... apparently).

Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1047521 By Kyle L. McKinzey. By Kyle L. McKinzey. Contest,Festival. Score and parts. 39 pages. KyleMac Music #652069. Published by KyleMac Music (A0.1047521). Marching In The Dark (Grade 1) is not your standard young band march. It has a modal melody and harmony but is easily playable and enjoyable melodies, where all sections get to shine.  Wind parts are playable by 1st-year players. Ranges are generally within the first 6 notes. Upper WW is mostly in unison with an occasional 2nd Clarinet split. Lower WW/Brass is mostly in unison as well. Trombones occasionally separates for harmonic depth and easier positions. The Trumpet split is like the Clarinet in that it is rare and used for harmonic support and lower range for the youngest players. Percussion parts are more “advancedâ€, but still easily performed using fewer players and simplified parts provided.  WOODWINDS - Fl, Ob, Bsn, Clar(2), BC, AS, TS, BS. BRASS - Trpt(2), Hn, Tbn, Euph, Tu (Low BR/WW mostly unison) PERCUSSION- Bells, Xylophone, SD, BD, Tenor Drum, Timp, Cr. Cym., Tamb. Triangle.

Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.770366 Composed by Orlande De Lassus. Arranged by Ivan Marini. Instructional,Multicultural,Renaissance,Sacred,World. Score and parts. 39 pages. Www.dalsegno.eu #3867431. Published by www.dalsegno.eu (A0.770366). The most famous Renaissance choral piece for two antiphonal ensembles finally arranged for Winds and Percussions, featuring a Brass Quartet (two trumpets and two trombones). This enjoyable concert piece is also useful to develope tone quality, intonation, phrasing and expression of every ensemble.Even smaller groups and young bands can perform this piece, because the four original parts are mostly doubled. The difficulty grade is very reasonable.Every conductor will take advantage of the performance stage/location, staging the better arrangement for the four solists (plus opt. Tenor Drums) and the ensemble. The soloist should stay, generally speaking, far away from the audience to emphasize the echo effect.A piano part (reduction of the ensemble) is also included, for both performance and rehearsal.Complete set with score and parts: Solos (Trumpet 1+2, Trombone 1+2),Piccolo, Flute 1+2, Oboe (or Soprano sax), Bassoon,Clarinets 1+2+3+bass, Saxes AATB,Trumpets/Cornets 1+2+3, F/Eb Horn, Trombones 1+2+3,Euphonium/Baritone BC+TC, Tuba, String Bass,Piano, Timpani, Side Drum(s), Tenor Drum(s).Other transpositions (e.g. Bb Trombones TC) available for free at simply requestDuration ca. 3 mins., 39 pages.Feel free to contact me at info@dalsegno.eu for any other setting! Please, check my other works at www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/3025323or visit www.dalsegno.eu

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153134 Composed by Joseph Hasper. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Instructional. Score and parts. 93 pages. Joseph Hasper #753375. Published by Joseph Hasper (A0.1153134). There are five main sections in this piece, each lasting exactly 21 measures. Why this unlikely number? I chose this number because the percussion parts, which are the driving force behind the piece, are based repeating patterns of 6, 7, and 8 eighth notes. It works out that these patterns only line up every 168 half-beats—which happens only at the end of 21 measures! The title for this piece was provided by Armstrong High School student Aaron Baker and was used as inspiration for the work. The phrase “endless routes†guided my decision to have several main themes instead of just one or two. The themes are widely different in character but share the feature that they each go to the same place—the very last half of the last beat of every twenty-first measure. The Minimalist style of music often features short musical fragments that are repeated many times in different combinations, and I used that technique to create a seemingly “endless†effect in the percussion parts. The percussion parts also use a colotomic structure, a technique often used in gamelan music of the far East. Unlike Western music, which generally has a strong accent on the first beat of a phrase, colotomic music accents the last beat of a phrase. You can hear this in Endless Routes when the percussion parts all become aligned and hit a simultaneous accent at the end of each section. This piece was commissioned and premiered by the Armstrong High School, under the direction of Jason Venesky. Mr. Venesky is a veteran teacher with over twenty years of experience in the Armstrong School District. He is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Performance (Tuba) and Music Education Certification and an active performer as Principal Tuba for the Butler County Symphony Orchestra; tubaist for the Armstrong Brass Quintet and Windsor Brass Quintet; and Bass Trombonist for the Gibbons Big Band. Mr. Venesky is currently Instructor of Tuba at Grove City College and Music Director for the Kittanning Community Band. Includes a full score and complete set of parts.
