After a bombastic opening, the work comes to a peaceful conclusion. Serves well as the first work of a first or second part in a concert setting. Of related interest is the composer's recently completed The Challenge of Beowulf: A Choral Fantasy in Three Scenes for 7 soloists, double men's chorus and piano, also offered for sale on SMP Press.
