The earliest printed version is in a book published by Wade. A manuscript by Wade, dating to 1751, is held by Stonyhurst College in Lancashire. Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite (1924) along with Gustav Holst’s First Suite in E-flat for Military Band (1921) and Second Suite in F for Military Band (1922) are amongst the most performed works in the wind band repertoire.
