This arrangement was written for a specific middle school small ensemble from PA Leadership Charter School's Center for Performing and Fine Arts. It has Flute 1 & 2, Alto Sax 1, 2, & 3, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, Hi-Hat Cymbal, Snare Drum, and 9-page score. The flute parts range from F4 to Eb6. Alto Sax 1 & 2 range up to Eb5 (alto high C). The Alto Sax 3. Tenor Sax, Trumpet, and Trombone parts were written for first-year players. The Little Drummer Boy (originally known as Carol of the Drum) is a popular Christmas song written by American composer Katherine Kennicott Davis in 1941.  First recorded in 1951 by the Trapp Family, the song was further popularized by a 1958 recording by the Harry Simeone Chorale; the Simeone version was re-released successfully for several years, and the song has been recorded many times since. In the lyrics, the singer relates how, as a poor young boy, he was summoned by the Magi to the Nativity of Jesus. Without a gift for the Infant, the little drummer boy played his drum with approval from Jesus' mother, Mary, recalling, I played my best for him and He smiled at me.

This is an arrangement for the Concert Band and SATB Choir – Would work with Solo or unison voices instead.  There is an optional Piano part.  There are parts for both Horns in F and Eb, Euphonium in BC and TC, Tubas in C, Eb, and Bb…

Little Drummer Boy - Peace on Earth is a Christmas song originally performed by English singer-songwriter David Bowie and American singer Bing Crosby. Recorded on 11 September 1977 near London for Crosby's television special Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas, the song features Crosby singing 1941 standard The Little Drummer Boy while Bowie sings the counterpoint tune Peace on Earth, written by the special's musical supervisors Ian Fraser and Larry Grossman, and scriptwriter Buz Kohan, specifically for the collaboration. The duet was one of Crosby's final recordings before his death in October 1977 and was one of Bowie’s most successful singles.

This sensitive and colourful orchestration features all sections across the concert band, is a pleasure to perform and will enhance any festive programme.
