This composition is a concert band transcription of my orchestral score Interlude for Orchestra, which represents a major revision of one of my earliest attempts to write for orchestra, way back in 1966. Revisiting it after over a half-century languishing in the drawer, I was shocked to find some surprisingly worthwhile material. Scrooge is a 1970 musical film adaptation of Charles Dickens' 1843 story 'A Christmas Carol', starring Albert Finney as Ebenezer Scrooge and with music by Leslie Bricusse, who was composing the songs for 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' at around the same time. This lovely little song is sung by Tiny Tim at the point in the story where Scrooge is being shown the Cratchit's situation by the Ghost of Christmas Present. Arranged for concert band for the first time and featuring a solo for Cor Anglais (but cued into Alto Sax if not available) - created to celebrate the memory of Richard Beaumont, a dear friend, eternally immortalised as Tiny Tim on screen, who passed away after a short illness in 2022.
