LicariMusic Preparation Serviceswww.musicprepservices.comMinka, Minka had derived from the Ukrainian folk tune Ikhav Kozak za Dunaj and was written by Semen Klimovski.  Many composers had adapted this tune for their works, notably Ludwig van Beethoven and Carl Maria von Weber.  This arrangement tries to capture the Eastern European feel that one may characterize (or caricaturize).      This arrangement started off as an assignment while taking Composing and Arranging for School Bands with Dr. Scott Watson (Alfred, Hal Leonard, Wingert-Jones) at Central Connecticut State University in the summer of 2014.    Minka, Minka is arranged in band-friendly C-harmonic minor.  A few items to remember:    - Upper winds have a minor second trill on concert Ab to A?  - The section starting at 53 should be played as delicate as one would allow.  - The section starting at 69 should appear to gain momentum.  - The section starting at 88 should be equal or stronger than it has first appeared.

Published by Ayotte Custom Musical Engravings (A0.733030). Boston Commandery is a Masonic march written by Thomas W. Carter in 1892. It was dedicated to the regional office of the Freemasony that was headquartered in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. In the march, Carter used the hymn Onward Christians Soldiers by Sir Arthur Seymour Sullivan as the melody for the trio, with the woodwinds providing the obbligato above the music. There have been many composers who were Masons; among them are Edward E. Bagley, W. Paris Chambers, Herbert L. Clarke, Merle Evans, Henry Fillmore, Karl L. King and John Philip Sousa. And Freemasony also includes in its ranks such musical luminaries as Louis Armstrong, Gene Autry, Count Basie, Ludwig van Beethoven, Irving Berlin, Roy Clark, Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, George Gershwin and Paul Whiteman.

Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870379). Completed in 1808, Beethoven's Symphony No. 6 was one of his first classical works that is based on programmatic content that evokes his love of nature. The second movement of this symphony is presented here for Concert Band. This movement was written to evoke emotions and feelings of arriving in a peaceful rural country to enjoy nature. The composer wanted to portray to an audience, more the expression of feeling than painting and evoke feelings and emotion through his music. With this movement, the composer evokes pleasant feelings of walking by a brook with the sounds of running water. At the end of the movement, the sounds of birds can be heard with a flute being a nightingale, the oboe playing a quail and two clarinets sounding a cuckoo. 2016 Arrangement New Release.
