It is not known if the tune by Bihari was based on a Hungarian folk melody of the time or if he composed it himself .

Quilombolas are the descendants and remnants of enslaved Africans who came to Brazil and fled to the interior of the country, forming communities that survive on natural resources. Until a few decades ago, many of them did not have access to electricity, education and health. In 2019 I had the opportunity to get to know some of these communities and this experience was the inspiration for this composition, with themes that portray the suffering and also the joy of this population. A great opportunity to expand your band repertoire with an small but expressive brazilian music piece.

Commissioned by Mitch Sturman, director of the Wilson Junior High School Band in El Centro, California in 2014 for his 8th Annual Concert of Premieres, the work features a solo trumpet in a quiet piece with both a 40's big band feel and a reminiscence of the Western cowboy influence felt in the Imperial Valley of California.  The work was premiered by 7th grade trumpeter Precious Esquer and the Wilson Jr. H. S. Band with the composer conducting on May 21, 2015, in the Wilson Jr. High School Gymnasium, El Centro, California.  Versions are also available for with the solo part covered by flute, oboe, clarinet, alto sax, tenor sax, bassoon, French horn, baritone horn (TC or BC), trombone, or tuba. The piece was completed in September of 2022. The tonality of this work is both tonal and atonal, with original harmonies. It depicts a festival with much energy, and powerful use of the brass and percussion, and is not a typical band piece. The Festival work can be performed without the contrabass clarinet, E-flat clarinet and alto clarinet if necessary. The audio file is only a computer generated realization, as no live recordings have been made as of this date. The baritone part is in bass clef.
