Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1288901 By Roy Orbison. By Bill Dees and Roy Orbison. Arranged by John Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop,Rock,Singer/Songwriter. Score and Parts. 42 pages. John Ivor Holland #879740. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1288901). Featured, of course, in the Julia Roberts and Richard Gere film (1990) and now in its own stage musical, Oh, Pretty Woman was originally recorded by Roy Orbison and released as a single in August 1964, spending three weeks at number one in the US and, later that year, in the UK. The title was apparently inspired by Orbison's wife, Claudette, interrupting a conversation to announce she was going out. When Orbison asked if she had enough cash, his co-writer Bill Dees interjected, A pretty woman never needs any money. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 224 on their list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. In 2008, The Library of Congress selected the song for preservation in the National Recording Registry. A great song for any time of the year, your band and audience will love this toe-tapping classic from the 60s, sounding as timeless today as it did back then.

It was released as the album's second single on 28 June 1985 through Vertigo Records. The song features a guest appearance by Sting who sings the signature falsetto introduction, background vocals and a backing chorus of I want my MTV. The groundbreaking video was the first to be aired on MTV Europe when the network launched on 1 August 1987. It was Dire Straits' most commercially successful single, peaking at number 1 for three weeks on both the US Billboard Hot 100 and Top Rock Tracks chart and number 4 in the band's native UK. In July 1985, the month following its release, Dire Straits and Sting performed the song at Live Aid. At the 28th Annual Grammy Awards in 1986, Money for Nothing won Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and was nominated for Record of the Year and Song of the Year as well. At the 1986 MTV Video Music Awards, the music video received 11 nominations, winning Video of the Year and Best Group Video. Subscribe to my YouTube Channel to stay updated on new releases.

Concert band - Grade 4 - Digital Download SKU: IZ.CBS172-S Composed by Jordan Eismeier. Score. 15 pages. Imagine Music - Digital #CBS172-S. Published by Imagine Music - Digital (IZ.CBS172-S). 9 x 12 in inches. This piece was originally composed for full orchestra as the sixth and final movement of my own second symphony Double Cross which musically chronicles the life and death of a man whose name has become synonymous with betrayal: Judas Iscariot. In the book of Matthew, chapter 27:1-10, Judas returns the blood money and hangs himself; the chief priests used the money and bought the Potter's field which became known as the Field of Blood, a burial place for strangers. This elegy for Judas is the haunting memoir of a traitor.Elegy is a piece just shy of seven minutes whose challenge is not in technical facility but rather in musical nuance. It gives many instruments opportunities to shine individually and in chamber-like settings, and it also challenges players to listen to the musical interactions in the fuller sections. Several specialty instruments are marked ad. lib., such as Eb clarinet, English horn, contrabassoon, double bass, and while they are optional, they sometimes do have prominent parts (especially English horn), but all optional instruments are either doubled or marked for cues when featured [NOTE: For ease of score reading, cues are not written out in the score; they are only cited on the appropriate lines]. So their presence is useful, but their absence is not prohibitive. Also, the score calls for some challenging ranges in the first horn, first bassoon and first/second trombones. These passages are marked with optional 8vb's, and the first bassoon and trombone have the opportunity to play a short passage in tenor clef. The timpani part includes suggested drum tunings, and it gives ample time and direction for the few pitch changes are required. The vibraphone part (Perc. 1) does employ four-mallet technique in places, but if this is not feasible (this would be a good piece in which to start learning it), the score specifies that Perc. 1 may be played on a piano instead. Percussion 3 calls for crotales, but in their absence, the glockenspiel may be used, and Perc. 3 already has that. The optional double bass part makes use of notes requiring a C extension, but it also gives optional small notes an octave higher in case the bassist has no C extension (which is likely). So in all, this piece offers plenty of challenges, but it also comes with optional escapes to help make it more accessible to more bands.Elegy-Field of Blood will challenge the musicality of good high school and college bands while still being a respectable member of professional repertoire. Its major performance challenges can be circumvented without terribly compromising the musicality, but they are available for maximum musical impact.

Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755270 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 182 pages. Sy Brandon #4353935. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755270). This composition is inspired by the symbology present in the suits of a deck of cards. It is in one continuous movement that is divided into four sections. Spades (death) is a funeral march that uses frequent dotted rhythms, outbursts of anger, and a lyrical, somber descending melody. A change of mood that is accomplished by brightening the harmony leads into Hearts (romance). This section follows a loose AABA form. The A sections contain lyrical lines and lush harmony. The B section is freer in rhythm and represents a dialogue between two lovers. The last measure of this section introduces a dotted rhythm motive that is used throughout the next section, Diamonds (riches). This section is subtitled riches instead of wealth because riches implies money for money’s sake rather than the benefits it can buy. It is in the style of a frenzied waltz as if those with the riches are at an elaborate ball totally unaware of the restlessness going on around them. Towards the end of this section, a chromatic line begins to insert itself, suggesting the uprising and war (Clubs) that follows. A dissonant chord transitions the listener into Clubs (war) section. This section begins powerfully with repeated chords resembling people shooting at each other. The shooting motif appears frequently throughout. Different melodic ideas represent the battle between forces. The tide of the battle keeps going back and forth, but nobody actually wins. The piece ends with the sound of death and destruction, therefore starting the cycle of the suits over again. The score prints on legal size paper and the parts on letter.

This is an arrangement for the Concert Band. There are parts of both Horns in Eb and F, Trombones 1-2 BC and TC, Euphonium in BC and TC, and Tubas in Bb, Eb, and C. Concert Band - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1039140 Composed by Al Jolson, Billy Rose, and Dave Dreyer. Arranged by James Symington. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Standards. Score and parts. 40 pages. James Edward Ernest Symington #644107. Published by James Edward Ernest Symington (A0.1039140). Me and My Shadow is a 1927 popular song. Officially the credits show it as written by Al Jolson, Billy Rose, and Dave Dreyer, with Jolson and Dreyer being shown on the sheet music as being responsible for the music and Rose the lyrics. Al Jolson was often given credits on sheet music so he could earn more money by popularising them, but he played no actual part in writing this song. Jolson never recorded the song although he did use it in the touring version of Big Boy in 1927. Popular recordings in 1927 were by Whispering Jack Smith, Nat Shilkret (vocal by Johnny Marvin) and the separate recording by Johnny Marvin himself for Columba Records. The song became particularly associated with Ted Lewis who used it to close his act. The song has since become a standard, with many artists performing it. This is an arrangement for vocal duet and Symphonic Wind Band.
