Amy Feldman Bernon was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. During the long winters, she would pass the time by playing piano and writing songs. She received her Bachelors degree from the Hartt School and Masters degree from Yale University School of Music, studying composition with Libby Larsen among others. Paralleling the voyages we make through life with those of a river flowing to the sea, 'Oceans and Stars' creates a thoughtful and meaningful atmosphere, suitable for any concert, but a particularly good choice for graduation events.

Midnight Ocean is a piece for concert band with an unconventional visual score. Midnight Ocean results in slow, swirling waves of overlapping notes and harmonies that slowly rise and fall throughout the entire ensemble's range, evoking the rising and falling of ocean waves. Midnight Ocean won the 2015 Redshift Music Society's Call For Scores and has been performed by the Arizona State University wind bands.

Ocean Springs is a very pretty town on the coast of Mississippi. The friendlieness of it all is amazing, and the charming enviroment is like no other in Mississippi. The attractions mashed with the enviroment will take your breath away. I know that is how I feel about Ocean Springs. And that is why I have wrote a lyriccal composition for them. Walk The Ocean is originally a concerto for piano and orchestra which is meant to depict the challenge of consciousness in its attempt to map and navigate the dark waters of the unconscious. This work is an arrangement of the piano soliloquy from the first movement of Walk The Ocean. In an arrangement for woodwinds, brass, and piano, this soliloquy captures the feelings of isolation and hope that are blended together within the unsolvable mystery of perception.

Ocean and Sky is a beautiful and evocative piece of music that takes listeners on a captivating journey. It begins in the tumultuous, rough waters of the Gulf Stream, with energetic rhythms and soaring melodies that perfectly capture the powerful and unpredictable nature of this ocean current.

As the piece progresses, it gradually transitions to more calm and peaceful waters, with a more relaxed tempo and gentler harmonies. The atmosphere becomes more serene, and the sound of the music reflects the beauty and tranquility of a clear sky above.

As my first composition for concert band, It will be forever remembered and cherished.

My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean is a traditional Scottish folk song. Bonnie actually refers to Charles Edward Stuart instead of a woman. This term also means charming and attractive in Scotland.    

The flexible instrumentation enables a mixture of instruments, from small ensemble to orchestra. Essential fingerings and bowings are provided in the string parts. This arrangement is suitable for amateur players who have played the instrument for around 1 year. The range of all instruments is within one octave.
