Requested by his cousin, Andrey Tchaikovsky, this march was written in the Spring of 1893 for the 98th Yurevsky Infantry Regiment, for which Andrey was the commander. Pyotr Tchaikovsky never actually orchestrated this arrangement because he did not know the instrumentation of the group that would be playing it, so instead it was written for solo piano and orchestrated later. This piece captures the spirit of an Imperial Russian March and you can sense the pride the soldiers must have felt when this regiment played their very own march.  Includes supplemental parts for piano, guitar, harp and drum set.

I was inspired by the beauty of sun rays piercing through the clouds in the sky, and how every combination of these light beams are unique in shape and size. These sun rays are represented through beautiful dissonances, extended fermatas, and subtle staggered percussion entrances. The piece has natural progression towards a noticeable peak, with very slight accelerations, and then slowly fades to an ending similar to that of the beginning. This is a wonderful piece to showcase the beauty in dissonance, the significance of subtlety, and offers several solo moments for every section of the band, starting with the horn and ending with the vibraphone.

When I arranged this, I only had early elementary clarinet players so that part is entirely written below the break. It can be taken up an octave for more advanced players. There is a flute solo for your best flute player, it could also be omitted if necessary. The mallet part could also be omitted in a pinch. It Is Well With My Soul is a hymn penned by hymnist Horatio Spafford and composed by Philip Bliss. First published in Gospel Songs No. 2 by Ira Sankey and Bliss (1876), it is possibly the most influential and enduring in the Bliss repertoire and is often taken as a choral model, appearing in hymnals of a wide variety of Christian fellowships. Horatio Spafford's original lyrics are included below.
