Marching Strings was composed by Ray Martin (aka Marshall Ross) and performed by Ray Martin and his concert orchestra, it was used as the theme for Top of the form over most of its long run on BBC radio and television. It was broadcast on the BBC Light Programme 1948-67, then BBC Radio 2 (sometimes simulcast on BBC Radio 1) 1967-70, and BBC Radio 4 1970-86. The programme migrated to TV, where it ran from 1962-75, and was called Television Top of the Form. Here  scored for Concert Band with a full score and parts included. For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow is a song that is sung to congratulate a person on a significant event, such as a promotion, a birthday, a wedding (or playing a major part in a wedding), a wedding anniversary, the birth of a child, or the winning of a championship sporting event.

The melody originates from the French song Marlbrough s’en va-t-en guerre (Marlborough Has Left for the War). The traditional children’s song The Bear Went Over the Mountain is sung to the same tune. wikipedia.com

This is a basic straight-ahead arrangement of the Graduation Song from Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance. It is a quick learn, and although it looks easy at first glance, it should sound great with any size band or string group, second year through professional. I have added a string score and parts in the PDF bundle. These parts may be performed as a string ensemble or with the band resulting in an orchestra format. The beauty of this arrangement is that it can be performed with just the strings, woodwinds or the brass section or any combination. Just percussion might sound a little thin. If there is a large group graduating, everyone does not have to play the whole time. Enjoy.
