Composed by David M. Stewart. March. 15 pages. DMStewart Music #835072. Published by DMStewart Music (A0.1239681).

This piece, The Palatka Port March, is intended to depict a little of the sense of life in the early years of Florida
on the St. John’s River. It was once a target for ships venturing out to find the New World. It has been used to ferry
barges and livestock. Some simply used it for sailing and transportation throughout the years, and some to catch fish
to provide for themselves. The life on this river has been diverse, yet fulfilling over the years and will continue to be
so in the future.
The melodies in this piece were taken from the shape of the St. Johns River from its upper point in Jacksonville, to where our part of the story ends in Palatka. Notice the falling and rising 8th note runs at the beginning, this
represents the rise and the fall of the river as it enters Jacksonville from the Atlantic Ocean. The first strain is a
linear, yet very regal melody where the heavy beats follow the contour of the river as it runs south. Here you can
picture the ships coming from Europe across the ocean and the excitement they felt when they reached it. The
second strain is more playful and represents the life that the river has provided for people for centuries. The Trio
represents the calmness and civility when Palatka was discovered, and the happiness the settlers must have felt
knowing they had found their perfect place to call home. The break strain represents the hard work and efforts that
were put forth to secure the land and build a community. There would have been many triumphs and many
successes, but the journey would have not been easy. The final strain is the culmination of the piece. This is the
celebration and the feeling of personal nobility that all of the settlers felt after taking a river and dirt and building a
city. I hope you enjoy, The Palatka Port March!

Composed by Alan Silvestri. Arranged by Graham Boag. 20th Century,Broadway,Film/TV,Musical/Show. Score and parts. 187 pages. Graham Boag #685889. Published by Graham Boag (A0.1081763).

Back to the Future is a 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis, and written by Zemeckis and Bob Gale. It stars Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson. Set in 1985, the story follows Marty McFly (Fox), a teenager accidentally sent back to 1955 in a time-traveling DeLorean automobile built by his eccentric scientist friend Doctor Emmett Doc Brown (Lloyd). Trapped in the past, Marty inadvertently prevents his future parents' meeting-threatening his existence-and is forced to reconcile the pair and somehow get back to the future. Back to the Future was conceived of in 1980 by Gale and Zemeckis. They were desperate for a successful film after numerous collaborative failures, but their idea was rejected over 40 times by studios because it was not considered raunchy enough to compete with the successful comedies of the era. A development deal was secured following Zemeckis' success directing Romancing the Stone (1984). Fox was the first choice to portray Marty, but he was unavailable; Eric Stoltz was cast instead. Shortly after principal photography began in November 1984, Zemeckis determined Stoltz was not right for the part and made the concessions necessary to hire Fox. This included re-filming scenes already shot with Stoltz and adding $4 million to the budget. Back to the Future was filmed in and around California and on sets at Universal Studios. Filming concluded the following April. Replacing Stoltz delayed production and the film's release date but, following highly successful test screenings, the date was brought forward to July 3, 1985, to give Back to the Future more time in theaters. This resulted in a rushed post-production schedule, and some incomplete special effects. Back to the Future was a critical and commercial success, earning $381.1 million to become the highest-grossing film of 1985 worldwide. Critics praised the story, comedy, and the cast-particularly Fox, Lloyd, Thompson, and Glover. It received multiple award nominations and won an Academy Award, Saturn Awards, and a Hugo Award. Its theme song, The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News, was a significant success globally. In the years since its release, Back to the Future has grown in esteem and is now considered to be among the greatest films of the 1980s, one of the best science-fiction films ever made, and one of the greatest films of all time. In 2007, the United States Library of Congress selected the film for preservation in the National Film Registry. The film was followed by two sequels, Back to the Future Part II (1989) and Back to the Future Part III (1990). With its effect on popular culture and a dedicated fan following, Back to the Future launched a multimedia franchise. This includes an animated television series, video games, comic books, board games, clothing, music, books, food, toys, collectibles, and theme park rides. Its enduring popularity has led to numerous books about its production, documentaries, and commercials. Back to the Future has been adapted into a 2020 stage musical.

By Martin Garrix. By Martijn Garritsen. Arranged by Scaver. 21st Century,Disco,Pop,Video Game. Score and Parts. 41 pages. Scaver #831187. Published by Scaver (A0.1235675).

Scaver Music, a renowned concert band arranger, has recently unveiled their latest project: a concert band version of the hit song Animals by Martin Garrix. Originally released as a digital download on iTunes on June 17, 2013, Animals quickly gained popularity within the electronic dance music (EDM) culture, propelling Martin Garrix to become the youngest producer to ever have a song reach number one on Beatport, a prominent electronic music store.

The track's infectious beats and energetic melodies captivated listeners, leading it to achieve remarkable success on various music charts. It climbed into the top ten and secured the number one spot on numerous electronic music charts, as well as some mainstream ones. Notably, Animals topped the singles charts in the United Kingdom, French-speaking Switzerland, and Belgium. In the United States, it reached number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 and claimed the number one position on the Dance chart.

Before its official release, Animals generated significant buzz as it was played anonymously, causing speculation to grow about the artist behind the track. Dutch record label Spinnin' Records fueled the anticipation by sharing a teaser clip of the song online, titled Animals (Teaser). This led to increased speculation, with a Vine video featuring Agnes from the animated film Despicable Me further stoking curiosity. The track was mistakenly attributed to other artists such as Hardwell, GTA, Sidney Samson, and Bassjackers before Martin Garrix's true identity as the producer was revealed.

Martin Garrix shared insights into the composition of Animals, explaining that the melody was based on a previous track he had composed two years prior but never released. The drop, characterized by its ruthlessly minimalist and rhythmic sound, is inspired by Busta Rhymes' What It Is. Additionally, the opening section of the song draws inspiration from a track called D.A.T.A. by Aura Qualic. While Animals is predominantly instrumental, it features a spoken verse by a friend of Martin Garrix with the lyrics We're the fucking animals, delivered in a low pitch and repeated twice throughout the song.

Now, Scaver Music has taken up the exciting challenge of arranging Animals for a concert band, bringing a fresh interpretation of this electronic dance anthem to a new musical realm. With their expertise in creating captivating arrangements, Scaver Music aims to capture the essence of the original track while adding the rich harmonies, dynamic textures, and powerful brass and woodwind sections that define the concert band sound.

Fans of Animals and concert band enthusiasts alike can look forward to experiencing this new rendition, which promises to be a thrilling and unforgettable musical journey. Scaver Music's concert band version of Animals will undoubtedly provide a unique and exhilarating performance, blending the infectious energy of electronic dance music with the grandeur and depth of a full concert band.

Composed by Edward Elgar. Arranged by James Symington. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Historic,Patriotic. 29 pages. James Edward Ernest Symington #1092231. Published by James Edward Ernest Symington (A0.1518069).

The name of the variation refers to Augustus J. Jaeger, who was employed as music editor by the London publisher Novello & Co. He was a close friend of Elgar's, giving him useful advice but also severe criticism, something Elgar greatly appreciated. Elgar later related how Jaeger had encouraged him as an artist and had stimulated him to continue composing despite setbacks. Nimrod is described in the Old Testament as a mighty hunter before the Lord, Jäger being German for hunter. In 1904 Elgar told Dora Penny (Dorabella) that this variation is not really a portrait, but the story of something that happened. Once, when Elgar had been very depressed and was about to give it all up and write no more music, Jaeger had visited him and encouraged him to continue composing. He referred to Ludwig van Beethoven, who had a lot of worries, but wrote more and more beautiful music. And that is what you must do, Jaeger said, and he sang the theme of the second movement of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 8 Pathétique. Elgar disclosed to Dora that the opening bars of Nimrod were made to suggest that theme. Can't you hear it at the beginning? Only a hint, not a quotation. This variation has become popular in its own right and is sometimes used at British funerals, memorial services, and other solemn occasions. It is always played at the Cenotaph, Whitehall in London at the National Service of Remembrance. A version was also played during the Hong Kong handover ceremony in 1997 and at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The “Nimrod” variation was the final orchestral composition (before the national anthem) played by the Greek National Orchestra in a televised June 2013 concert, before the 75-year-old Athenian ensemble was dissolved in the wake of severe government cutbacks. An adaptation of the piece appears at the ending of the 2017 film Dunkirk in the score by Hans Zimmer. This arrangement for Flex-Band has been adapted to suit the instrumentalists. The key has changed and this makes it much more playable and more secure.

Composed by Daniel Bouknight. Classical. Score and Parts. 52 pages. Daniel Bouknight #816008. Published by Daniel Bouknight (A0.1219650).

The idea behind the piece is supposed to potray the process of overcoming obstacles in life, in this case, its the obstacle of losing people. When somesone in our life is lost suddenly, we're left a mess, everything seems discombobulated, nothing seems to quite make sense anymore. The beginning of the piece gets that across with the drone coming in on its own and the different chord changes through out helps drive that message along. Then the whole band joins in to really set in the confussion and disorientate you. The two soloists, Trombone and Trumpet, will be offstatge solos. These are playing the roles of Gods angels coming to your rescure trying to guide you through it all. But, you do not listen and the confussion continues on. Soon enough, you give in, listening to the angels you find yourself and you realize...its all okay. The ensemble is playing this emotional and warm hit with the solosits singing over the top giving the sense that we've made it. Then to close out the piece, the soloists chime in one last time to bring in the resolution of the piece, that you are home, you are safe, you can rest.

Reflections on a German Folk Song is based on the traditional round Himmel und Erde, which directly translated means
Heaven and Earth, however the common English title is Music Alone Shall Live. While teaching music for Saydel
Community School District in Des Moines, Iowa, I taught the round to elementary students and concluded that the folk tune
would lend itself well to young instrumentalists. Consequently, I set out to arrange the round for emerging band.
After an introduction based on motives and rhythms of the round, the tune is initially played by an alto saxophone solo (or
oboe). After a transition from the key of F Major to E-Flat Major, the band divides into three groups to play the three-voice
round. The entire round is repeated twice, exhibiting a lengthy crescendo and eventual diminuendo caused by the three
instrument groupings ending their voices in the round.
Having students perform a simple, yet lyrical round provides for a variety of educational opportunities. Similar to young
vocal ensembles, performing a round helps students to securely play with a group that is doing something different than
other sections of the ensemble, which ultimately assists in the transition to playing within a smaller, individual section or
independent part. Reflections on a German Folksong contains simplistic rhythms, which allows students to primarily focus
on phrasing, articulation, tone quality and dynamics.
