Concert Band - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1369852 By The Vince Guaraldi Trio. By Vince Guaraldi. Arranged by John PW Hudson. Children,Christmas,Contest,Festival,Film/TV,Jazz. 44 pages. This unforgettable Peanuts tune from 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' was composed by Vince Guaraldi in 1965. What is remarkable is that the melody is only three notes, (yet is so catchy), so when I was looking for three note melodies to arrange for my beginning band students, this was a standout. By their first Christmas concert they were able to play it! The piano part is necessarily more challenging, but like choral music, the piano parts often are. So, call this flex music or mixed abilty music, either way this is a real crowd pleaser!  Bands at any higher level can practically sight read this, so a quick rehearsal or two can add a fun experience for players and audience alike! Enjoy!

Concert Band - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1459498 Composed by Vince Guaraldi. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Christmas,Film/TV,Holiday,Jazz. 63 pages. John Ivor Holland #1038451. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1459498). 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' is a 1965 animated television special, the first based on the comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schulz. The programme made its debut on the CBS television network in December 1965. In the special, Charlie Brown finds himself depressed despite the onset of the cheerful holiday season. After Lucy van Pelt suggests he direct a neighbourhood Christmas play, his best efforts are ignored and mocked by his peers when he chooses a puny Christmas tree as a centrepiece. 'A Charlie Brown Christmas' received high ratings and acclaim from critics, receiving an Emmy and a Peabody Award, and becoming a staple in the Christmas television schedule for nearly 60 years. Its success paved the way for a series of Peanuts television specials and films and its jazz soundtrack, an unorthodox mix of traditional Christmas music and jazz (created by the Vince Guaraldi Trio), achieved commercial success, selling five million copies in the US. The soundtrack was voted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2007 and added to the Library of Congress's National Recording Registry list of culturally, historically, or aesthetically important American sound recordings in 2012. Bring some of that Peanuts magic to your holiday concert and show off your star trumpet, alto sax, trombone and flute players with short solos (suggested lines with chords).
