Published by Edition Schwalbe (A0.1497133). Josef Lanner, one of the founders of the Viennese waltz, dedicated this waltz to the admirers of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, naming them   The Mozartists. It concists of themes of the operas Don Giovanni and The Magic Flute and premiered in Vienna on 19 May 1842.  The arrangement is kept in the original key of the composition for symphony orchestra and was commissioned and first  time performed by Mozarteum Wind Philharmonic Salzburg conducted by Hansjoerg Angerer at their Three Kings' Concert on 6 January  2019 in the Grosses Festspielhaus (Large Festival Hall) in Salzburg, Austria and broadcasted live by Austrian television. The last of his Three German Dances was most likely composed for a ball in Vienna's Imperial Court, and like many artists today, Mozart took a just add sleigh bells approach to creating a wintry atmosphere. Sleigh rides were a popular winter pastime in Vienna during Mozart's time, and it is said that the composer wrote this piece to mimic the sensation of going up and down the snow-covered hills on an 18th century sleigh.

Although it works best on piccolo trumpet in B-flat, parts for cornet in E-flat and B-flat and piccolo trumpet in A are provided as alternatives. This arrangement, also known as the Queen of the Night's aria, imitates the orchestral and vocal style of the original.
