Concert Band - Level 2 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1228871

By Kyle L. McKinzey. By Kyle L. McKinzey. March. Score and Parts. 31 pages. KyleMac Music #824782. Published by KyleMac Music (A0.1228871).

SPRING FOUNTAINS MARCH is a fun, exci􀆟ng concert march for young bands. With tutti syncopation and lots of flourishes, the band will be able to express the joy of spring as fountains in the park start up again.

Woodwinds—Only the clarinet part is split throughout. The alto sax has a couple of split measures to reinforce the trills but supports the horn line for the rest of the march. The tenor sax supports the horn part when the altos have the trills. The ranges are within most 1st-year players and easily within 2nd-year players range. The 2nd Clarinet never goes above the break. The trills for all woodwinds (fountains) are easy trills for younger players.

Brass—Only the trumpet part is split and it is rhythmically unison throughout. Low brass/woodwinds are mostly entirely unison throughout the piece. Like the WW’s, all parts are playable by 1st-year players.

Percussion uses a standard concert march instrumentation. The bells have some trills and tremolos that could be new to a younger player.

I hope you and your students enjoy SPRING FOUNTAINS MARCH and I would appreciate any comments

SKU: A0.1323446

Composed by Claude Debussy. Arranged by Clayton Fannin. 20th Century. 76 pages. Clayton Fannin #911617. Published by Clayton Fannin (A0.1323446).

The third movement of Suite Bergamasque composed by Debussy around 1890 and published in 1905, the piece was inpired by the 1869 poem of the same name by Paul Verlaine.

Your soul is a chosen landscape
On which masks and Bergamasques cast enchantment as they go,
Playing the lute, and dancing, and all but
Sad beneath their fantasy-disguises.

Singing all the while, in the minor mode,
Of all-conquering love and life so kind to them
They do not seem to believe in their good fortune,
And their song mingles with the moonlight,

With the calm moonlight, sad and lovely,
Which makes the birds dream in the trees,
And the plumes of the fountains weep in ecstasy,
The tall, slender plumes of the fountains among the marble sculptures.

DeBussy's piece captures the tranquility and passionate Romantisism of the poem with one of his most famous works.

The arrangement captures the rich vibrance and expression of the original piano piece while adding new hints of modernism and tone color.
