The Dragon's Lament for intermediate band - this work has three different endings depending on whether you want the dragon to sleep or wake up!
At first, a mournful melody plays while the dragon sleeps.
Then, the dragon awakes in a section with rhythmic energy.
At last, the dragon falls back into a peaceful slumber.

Originally written for the Play on Philly students at Freire Charter School.

This beautiful slow air derives its title from the siege and fall of the city of Limerick to English forces in 1691, at the end of the Williamite Wars. The tune, like so many ancient airs was claimed by both Scots and Irish, the Scots version being entitled Farewell to Lochaber.� When Burns first heard the air he is said to have exclaimed, Oh, that's a fine tune for a broken heart.� It is one of the finest slow traditional airs and is arranged here for bagpipes and band by Brendan Power.

Lament for Youth is a beautiful Irish arrangement by J.F. Larchet, one of Ireland's most celebrated composers. The piece starts with a slow air entitled 'My Gentle Harp' followed by a lively dance tune 'The Galway Reel'. Larchet combines these two tunes with great artistry in a rousing final section. This arrangement of Larchet's orchestral piece was made by Colonel W. F. Brase, a distinguished German bandmaster who became the first Director of the Irish Army School of Music in 1923.
