This project is dedicated to those who's journey takes them to the home that waits beyond this life. Hopefully they receive as joyous a welcome as those we see in this life, not only by family and friends, but also their fellow brothers and sisters in arms who have made the same journey. Danny Elfman’s classic song “This Is Halloween� from Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas has been skillfully adapted for standard-sized orchestra with harp. This instrumental arrangement retains the “haunting� mood and colorful orchestration of the original, but makes it easily performed by any group with standard instrumentation. The harp and pitched percussion parts may be performed on electronic keyboards. Danny Elfman composed the music to Tim Burton’s 1993 classic stop-motion animated feature The Nightmare Before Christmas. Although Walt Disney Pictures feared the film might be too scary for children, it is now considered a timeless classic that has been re-released numerous times, and has been featured in the annual holiday-season version of Disney’s Haunted Mansion since 2001. Today the film is frequently screened with live orchestra and singers. “This Is Halloween� is the perfect piece to open or close your next fall or holiday concerts.

Please note the following errata: In the flute 1, flute 2, and clarinet 1 parts, the arpeggio in measure 59 should be one measure later in measure 60.

A Christmas Carol (2009) from Walt Disney Pictures with Jim Carrey in the role of Scrooge is a magnificent and much loved masterpiece, an instant holiday classic.  With a cast including Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Bob Hoskins and Cary Elwes.  The song echoes the last words of Tiny Tim and the crowning song sung by Andrea Bocelli, but written by film music legend Alan Silvestri (Back to the future, Polar Express among many others)  builds on that phrase as its opening line to create a joyful epic anthem.

This version requires a tenor or soprano soloist with the option of SATB chorus, and emulates the original soundtrack but set in a lower key since few singers necessarily have the vocal capacity of Bocelli to ping out a routine top B.  A version will be available on this site in the original higher key for the braver subscriber.

We commend this song (and arrangement) to any event organisers of a large scale Christmas or church orchestral event, or a film concert any time of year.  It is a magnificent modern classic.
