It was usually performed by four pairs of dancers in a rectangular formation, and frequently danced to a medley of opera melodies. So, it turns out that a quadrille is just the 19th-century version of a mash-up! This Quadrille features excerpts from: Symphony #38 (Prague), the Impressario overture, Viennese Sonatina No. 1, Symphony #41 (Jupiter), Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, March for Orchestra, KV 189, Queen of the Night aria from Magic Flute, Abduction from the Seraglio, Turkish March, and the finale from Symphony #29. The title comes from Laudatio which means commendation or praise, and Amadeus from Wolfgang Mozart's best known middle name.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1040096 Composed by An-lun Huang. 20th Century,Contemporary,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Score and parts. 424 pages. DoReMi Edition #644919. Published by DoReMi Edition (A0.1040096). One of the Masterpieces of Chinese Music of 20th Century The magnificent cave art at Dunhuang, in Western China sets the stage for the ballet, “Dream of Dunhuangâ€. In the middle of the vast wastes of Western China, lies the oasis of Dunhuang, situated in today‘s Gansu Province. Since the Western Han Dynasty(202BC-8AC), Dunhuang was an important trading and cultural center on the famous “Silk Road’, the ribbon of communication which fostered the historic ties between East and West. In the East was China, source of treasured trading articles such as silk; in the West, the â€road“ branched to Venice, and north to what is today‘s Russia. The mural led caves at Dunhuang, which were begun the Northern Wei dynasty(336AD), and developed over one thousand years into the Qing Dynasty, re presents one of the world‘s richest cultural treasures. Drawing on bothn Western(Indian and Persian) as well as Chinese tradition, the caves, of which 492 remain intact, were decorated as a mines of religious devotion, with the initiation of Buddhism into China. The subjects of the murals, such as devise, demons, apsaras and bodhisattvas, represent the entire pantheon of Buddhist mythology, yet are also significant in their representation of muti-racial and muti-cultural influences, standing as an important testament to the age old exchange between East and West. A fabricated fantasia, the story of the ballet was inspirited by the famous artist, maestro Chang Shu-hong, who dedicated his whole life to Dunhuang. One of the Huang An-lun‘s major compositions with the play written by Xu Qing-dong, the score of “Dream of Dunhuang†was completed in mid-1979. The ballet has been dedicated to the composer‘s closest friends, Canadian writers John Fraser and Elizabeth MacCallun. Up to the date this CD being released, the ballet has never got a chance to performed in mainland China. Nevertheless, its music has been wildly performed and warmly received around the world. The Singapore premiere of its suite No.1 was performed by the SSO, conducted by Maestro Lim Yao. It has been also chosen as one of the “Master Piece of Chinese Music in 20th Century†in 1993. The world premiere of the complete ballet was performed successfully by the Russian State Ballet of Moscow, directed by its artist director, Vyatcheslav Godeyev, in 1994. Choreographed by Chen Min, it was took place in Taiwan with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro David C.H.Chen. In 2002, ROI of Hong Kong has released the CD of the whole ballet, performed by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow. This is also the audio file attached. Before this recording conducted by the composer himself, the entire score was also performed by the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of Moscow in1995. The YouTube video was the World Premiere in Taiwan by the Russia National Ballet with the Taiwan symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Chen in 1994. The ballet, “ Dream of Dunhuang†depicts two young artists seeking the ultimate experience in love and expression. This two lovers arrived at desert and with the guidance of the celestial maiden, they discover the miracles of Dunhuang. It‘s divided into three acts: Act I: Desert, Act II: Cave, and Act III: Mogao cave.

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927988 Composed by Malcolm D Robertson. Contemporary. 75 pages. Mr Malcolm D Robertson #5741511. Published by Mr Malcolm D Robertson (A0.927988). I'd long wanted to compose an opera based on Arthur Miller's masterpiece based around the Salem witchcraft trials in the American colonies in 1692. Knowing that this was unlikely to come to fruition, nevertheless I sketched out some ideas just in case, which I turned into a 3 movement work for a local orchestra in 1999 for performance at their concert in September 2000. During January - March 2020 I revised the work for a larger orchestra adding 2 more movements (nos 3 & 4) and revising the existing movements. The opening movement is intended to be the Prelude to the opera. The 2nd movement the Prelude to the tense 3rd Act. The 3rd movement takes place at the climactic moment of Act 3, when John Proctor's valiant and desperate attempt to expose Abigail Williams' for what she is backfires, leading to his arrest. The 4th movement opens with the Hymn/Psalm associated with the people of Salem and continues with the reconciliation in prison between John Proctor and his wife Elizabeth.The 5th and final movement accompanies John Proctor's march to execution having nobly torn up his confession of witchcraft. The Hymn/Psalm returns before reminiscences of the opening Prelude return ending the work in a sense of uneasy peace.  Parts can be made available upon request.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869364 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 104 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #25515. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869364). Instrumentation: SATB chorus and soloists plus orchestra 2222-2221-timp-perc-hp-org-strings. Mass for the Holy Year 2000 is in nine movements and scored for SATB chorus, chamber orchestra and organ. I set the entire Latin text from the Ordinary of the Mass: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus and Agnus Dei. In between these sections, I added four settings of contemporary poems written in English. Initially, I wanted to use poems that would bring to the listener's attention the serious humanitarian issues we face every day on earth as we enter a new millennium: religious and ethnic wars, poverty, genocide, AIDS, intolerance, social inequality and racial injustice. But as I began to slowly understand the text of the Mass, I decided that the contemporary poems I would use should reflect and amplify what is already in the Latin text. It is all about faith and redemption. Elizabeth Kirschner (b. 1955) is a poet who lives in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts. Her poem is about the search for God. Claude McKay (1890-1948), a member of the Harlem Renaissance Poets, was originally from Jamaica. His poem asks for God's presence. Edith Stein (1891-1942) was a Carmelite nun who was killed by the Nazis during World War II because she was a Jew. Her poem celebrates God's presence. The final poem is by the Trappist monk, Thomas Merton (1915-1968). His poem, which was published posthumously, is about the assassination of the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King.

The ground breaking Netflix epic TV biopic series was indeed a huge sea change in home streaming content output, bringing together some of Britain's biggest names in theatre, film and TV to portray the history of Queen Elizabeth II's 70 years as the UK monarch.  Controversial at times, it had many critics but it was hugely popular with no less than 4 actresses taking on her portrayal. The respect, sensitivity and gravitas we would expect for a histirical drama production like this was self evident from the opening credits and the accompanying music.  The theme that Balfe, Gregson Williams and Zimmer created perfectly framed and set up each episode beautifully.  A little known fact is that it is based on a song written 400 years before it by Henry Purcell in his 'semi-opera' KING ARTHUR.  The harmonies Purcell wrote in his 'Cold song' were very progressive for the time it was written but provides a wonderful bed for the modern writing team to use as their inspiration. This orchestration follows the original TV soundtrack as closely as possible for standard concert orchestra instrumentation:2 FlutesPiccolo2 Oboes2 Clarinets1 Bass Clarinet2 Bassoons4 Horns3 Trumpets3 TrombonesTubaTimpani2 Percussion[Taiko Drum/Large Bass Drum]StringsCheckout some of the growing list of other titles now available on this website scored by Studio Orchestrations.

Full Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1081578 Composed by Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Arranged by Joshua Choe. Baroque,Classical,Sacred. Score and parts. 57 pages. JMJ Arrangements #685700. Published by JMJ Arrangements (A0.1081578). In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, 'Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!' But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. And the angel said to her, 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end.' And Mary said to the angel, 'How can this be, since I have no husband?' And the angel said to her, 'The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be impossible.' And Mary said, 'Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.' And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:26-38 RSV-CE).
