For standard large orchestra: 2, 2, 2, 2 - 4, 3, 3, 1, timp, strDuration: ~11 minutes, 3 contiguous movementsJim Hopson's 'West Coast Suite' is a new, exciting orchestral piece inspired by the majestic geography of the Pacific Northwest. Featuring beautiful melodies that soar over driving, syncopated rhythms, this piece makes for an exciting overture for any Pops, Classics, or Canadian Content programme. From the composer: This Suite is written in three contiguous movements, named for Vancouver, BC’s most iconic features: ‘City’, ‘Sea’, and ‘Mountains’. ‘City’ opens with a flourish of harmonic architecture which morphs into a decidedly cosmopolitan syncopated groove, reflecting the city’s bustling energy. ‘Sea’ features a simple, plaintive melody supported by gently undulating waves of harmony which slowly build to a tempestuous climax and then recede into calmness. ‘Mountains’ begins as a gentle stroll through the North Shore’s idyllic peaks. The final movement gradually builds velocity, culminating in a breakneck sprint up North Vancouver’s infamous ‘Grouse Grind’.For more information about the composer: www.phonosmusic.com

Full Orchestra - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.991609 Composed by Christopher Wolfe. Contemporary. Score and parts. 82 pages. Christopher Wolfe #3019975. Published by Christopher Wolfe (A0.991609). Written in 2007 for the Luton Symphony Orchestra in Bedfordshire, England, the Anasazi Overture is a fun and crowd-pleasing concert overture that combines beautiful Coplandesque string playing with exciting Hans Zimmer style brass. The piece is based on two Native American folk tunes; A Hopi lullaby and a Pueblo corn grinding song. The instrumentation of the piece is without percussion as the original intent of the work was to Make it cheap to play. It features double winds and brass with the exception of a 3rd horn part. The level of playing for the strings is quite advanced and the piece is suitable for all-county, all-state, youth orchestras, semiprofessional and professional groups. Some of the advanced techniques required involve heavy double-stopping and high shifting positions for the strings and Hans Zimmer style cuivre for the horns (NOTE: NOT STOPPED HORN) as well as upward rips. The included MP3 recording is the first live performance of the work by the amateur group it was composed for, but I am confident that this piece will prove to be fun and exciting to play for even professional orchestras. This set contains 1 of each part. Permission is given to create copies of the parts for each player in the orchestra as needed. The work has been quite popular with those who have played it. I can be contacted at wolfiemeister@yahoo.com with any questions regarding the work.
