Composed by James Horner. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 12 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #907464. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1318829).

1980’s Battle Beyond the Stars saw James Horner explode onto the Hollywood scoring scene. Whilst it wasn’t the first movie he scored, it was certainly the one that made everyone sit up and pay attention, and the exuberant writing most likely led to his appointment as composer on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.  In fact, Battle Beyond the Stars is also where Horner made the acquaintance of then art director James Cameron, with the pair later collaborating on Aliens, Titanic and Avatar. Several moments within the Battle Beyond the Stars score will sound very familiar to fans of Horner’s Star Trek and Aliens scores!

Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!

Braveheart – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the instrumental soundtrack album to the 1995 film of the same name composed and conducted by James Horner and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra. It is Horner's second of three collaborations with Mel Gibson as director following The Man Without a Face (1993). The soundtrack, comprising 77 minutes of film score, was notably successful and was nominated for Best Original Score at the 68th Academy Awards in 1996, but lost to Luis Bacalov's composition to Il Postino.

Horner's score includes a melody that appeared again in his 1997 music for Titanic. Irish band Clannadwrote a theme tune for the film, entitled 'Croí Cróga' (meaning 'braveheart'). However, the track was not used in the soundtrack, but was released by Clannad on the album 'Lore'. Several critics have noted similarities between the Main Theme and an earlier theme song, Kaoru Wada's Pai Longing in the 1991 anime series 3×3 Eyes.[2][3][4].

Composed by James Horner. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 48 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #858732. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1265999).

1983 saw the release of director Lynne Littman’s adaptation of Carol Amen’s short story The Last Testament. Originally produced for PBS’s “American Playhouseâ€, the quality of the movie was considered so high that Paramount decided to purchase the rights for a full theatrical release, and received an Oscar nomination for lead actress Jane Alexander.

Testament is an unreservedly stark and disturbing experience, following a suburban family as they endure the effects of nuclear fallout.

At this point in his career James Horner had already hit the mainstream with his immense science fiction music, with this project falling between his two Star Trek offerings.  His work here is built for an ensemble of only ten players, usually consisting of duets or solo horn or woodwind performances, with the occasional addition of a small choir.  Whilst having an overall sombre tone, there are moments of hope and unexpected heroism, and Horner’s score is an excellent example of how much can be achieved with a small ensemble.

Now musicians, music students, conductors – any music lover – can study the complete score from Testament in this high-quality edition, carefully reproduced and edited from the original handwritten manuscript.

Includes foreword by Testament director, Lynne Littman.

Composed by James Horner. Arranged by Marco Müller. 20th Century,Film/TV,Standards,Wedding. Score and Parts. 26 pages. Marco Müller #740172. Published by Marco Müller (A0.1139905).

This is the famous and very emotive theme called Rose from the movie Titanic by James Cameron. The music was composed by the master James Horner himself and is one of the most well-known movie soundtracks in history. This piece can be found troughout the movie but especially with its romantic character, which does not deny a climax in form of a modulation at the end of the piece, in romantic scenes.
Instrumentation:
• Flute 1 & 2
• Oboe 1 & 2
• B-flat Clarinet 1 & 2
• Timpani (2 are enough)
• Triangle
• Cymbals (suspended)
• Harp
• Violin 1
• Violin 2
• Viola
• Violoncello
• Contrabass

This arrangement is very similar to the original title taken from the soundtrack album (for better playability with an orchestra without a piano and singer, though), so if desired, this score can be used to follow along while the original is playing.

SKU: A0.1400367

Composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 9 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #983553. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1400367).

Director Phillip Noyce, who had helmed the previous two entries in the Jack Ryan franchise (with scores by James Horner), was replaced at the last minute on 2002’s The Sum of All Fears by Phil Alden Robinson. Despite his prior collaborations with Robinson, Horner stepped aside and thus the scoring assignment went to Jerry Goldsmith.  In the years following his magnificent stretch of production in 1998 and 1999,  Goldsmith’s output had slowed to a crawl and The Sum of All Fears proved to be a welcome return to form. Featuring a song which was later revealed to be an extension of his tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks, Goldsmith created an outstanding score with moments of solemn beauty contrasted with robust action music.

Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!
