William Ward-Higgs  1866 –  1936 was an English lawyer and songwriter who wrote Sussex by the Sea: The unofficial anthem of that county, a regimental march of the Royal Sussex Regiment, and the official song of Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.From 1902–08, he lived at Hollywood House in Bersted, West Sussex and wrote Sussex by the Sea when his favourite sister-in-law became engaged to Captain Waithman of the 2nd Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment.  This version for Orchestra (2121 2231 Perc Timp Str)  is in the lower key of Bb(which corresponds to the key used in Military Band performances.  The vocal edition in the low key ID 1529973 corresponds if this is to be sung. For further arrangements by Marcus Martin vist www.marcusmartinmusic.co.uk.

Marching Strings was composed by Ray Martin (aka Marshall Ross) and performed by Ray Martin and his concert orchestra, it was used as the theme for Top of the form over most of its long run on BBC radio and television. It was broadcast on the BBC Light Programme 1948-67, then BBC Radio 2 (sometimes simulcast on BBC Radio 1) 1967-70, and BBC Radio 4 1970-86. The programme migrated to TV, where it ran from 1962-75, and was called Television Top of the Form. Here  scored for concert orchestra, 2121 2330 Strings Timp/Percussion with a full score and parts included. A mix of fear and wonderment assault them. They run. All these emotions and movements are translated by quick scales and texture. In fact, the pirates, like us, don't know what is happening: in front of them, there is a shipwreck, rests of a banquet, corpses, and a couple - a beautiful woman that looks like Artemis and a wounded man at her feet.

Aithiopika is an ancient greek novel that mixes love and adventure. This novel was so influent in Post-Renascence: Cervantes, Shakespeare, Racine loved it. Verdi's Aida argument is in part based on Aithiopika. In this first movement, we follow the first scenario of the novel: we are presented to the natural setting that opens the novel: we are facing on preliminary doubts and omens after the impact of the sunrise upon the creatures on stage. .

Charles Williams (1893 - 1978) was a British composer and conductor who contributed music to over 50 films and wrote a considerable amount of light music, including 'Devil's Galop'.  'While I Live' is a 1947 British drama film,  best remembered for its musical theme The Dream of Olwen composed by Charles Williams, which became hugely popular in its time and is still regularly performed. For piano and orchestra  (2121.2230. Hp(opt) Perc and Strings)  and lasting about 4 minutes this is an effective mini-concerto suitable for concerts  and/ or encores.  Full score, all orchestral parts and the solo piano part are included.  In a lighter music scenario Richard Addinsel's 'Warsaw Concerto' (also arranged by Marcus Martin for similar forces) makes an attractive pairing.

By a 1987 act of the U.S. Congress, it is the official National March of the United States of America. This piece was  composed for the 1941 film 'Dangerous Moonlight', a World War II love story with a sweeping soundtrack to match the romance of the plot. The film’s producers apparently approached  Rachmaninov to compose the score, but when he declined, the score for Dangerous Moonlight  and the Warsaw Concerto  was composed by Richard Addinsell. The composer’s unashamed use of indulgent harmonies and grand Romantic gestures goes a great way towards explaining why the Warsaw Concerto remains hugely popular today. An attractive concert item, scored for 2122 2230 Timpani and Strings. All parts including the piano solo are included together with the full score.

The stage musical opened at the Hippodrome Theatre in London's West End in 1945 and ran until 1948. This song was the most popular and enduring to emerge from the production. This orchestration can be used to accompany the SATB arrangement 1367934. It also is suitable as an orchestral item without choir. This is a flexible arrangement, scored for 2 flutes, oboe, 2 Bb clarinets, Bassoon, 2 Horns, 2 Trumpets, 3 Trombones, Timpani, Harp, Piano and Strings. This section is traditionally associated with USA high school and college graduation ceremonies. This version is for full symphony orchestra.  2 Piccolos, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets, 2 Bassoons,  4 horns, 2 Trumpets (or Cornets) 3 Trombones, Tuba, Organ, Harp, Percussion and Strings.  However 2nd Piccolo, 3rd and 4th Horns, Harp and Organ are all 'ad lib' and in general the arrangement is effective with the omission of some of the other wind and brass at the conductor's discretion. A full score and all parts are included with alternative Bb parts for Clarinet and Trumpet.
