La leyenda del beso (The leyend of a kiss) is a zarzuela in three acts, with music composed by Reveriano Soutullo and Juan Vert. Premiered in 1924, the work blends love, passion, and drama with the peculiarity of a gypsy legend.
Set in a gypsy camp, the protagonist, Mario, falls in love with Amapola, a gypsy with a tragic destiny linked to a legend about a kiss that brings death. As the plot unfolds, themes of impossible love, jealousy, and fate intertwine.
The work is famous for its captivating melodies and evocative atmosphere. This version of its interlude, the best-known part, the work has been revised and adapted to be performed by a student orchestra. It is also valid for the professional orchestra since it maintains the musical essence of the original score.
