Composed by Henri Wieniawski. Arranged by Paul Wood. Romantic Period. 118 pages. MyMusicScores.com #966642. Published by MyMusicScores.com (A0.1382116).

Henri Wieniawski composed two Polonaises The Polonaise No. 1, Op.4 in D-major, emerges as a youthful endeavor, while the Op.21 in A-major stands as one of his final compositions.

Completed in 1870, the Polonaise in A-major debuted with orchestral accompaniment in St. Petersburg, followed by a piano-accompanied performance in Warsaw, showcasing Wieniawski's adaptability. The piece received critical acclaim from its inception, lauded as a magnificent piece, a sentiment echoed in subsequent reviews across Russian and Western European publications.

Published by Schott Publishers in Mainz around 1875, the Polonaise in A-major reveals a well-developed concert piece. The solo violin assumes a dominant role, with the orchestra primarily providing harmonic support. The middle fragment introduces contrast through a change in key and tempo, featuring a balanced dialogue between the instruments.

Composed by Anton Rubinstein. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. 19th Century. 107 pages. Arkady Leytush #730561. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1130199).

Anton Rubinstein Concert Suite from “Bal costumeâ€, Op. 103 1. Polonais et polonaise 2. Toréador et andalouse 3. Pacha et almée 4. Pêcheur napolitain et napolitaine This concert suite was composed and orchestrated by me from 4 bright numbers “Bal costumeâ€, op. 103. Their strong contrasting imagery, theatricality and ingenuity provided an excellent opportunity for development in the orchestra and served as the impetus for this orchestral transcription. In addition to popularizing the work of A. Rubinstein as a composer, this music itself can become an adornment of many symphonic programs. The role and significance of Anton Rubinstein for the development of academic music in Russia is invaluable. His powerful and versatile talent manifested itself in everything he did. He remained in the history of music as an unsurpassed pianist and conductor, and as a great composer, and as the founder of the Russian Musical Society, and as the organizer of the First Russian Conservatory in St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, this all-encompassing contribution to Russian musical culture and his place in it have not yet been sufficiently appreciated by his descendants, and there are traditionally painful reasons for this. He still cannot be forgiven for his origin and some critical statements about his colleagues, which hang like a stone over the memory of this great maestro and man!

3. Intrada ('The Court'): orchestral march in E flat major, illustrating the entrance of the royal court.

Composed by Scott Markle. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 122 pages. MarcoPolo Press #5755357. Published by MarcoPolo Press (A0.1021047).

Sinfonietta No.1 (Transformations) is an intermediate orchestral pieces in four movements that is almost 10 minutes (9:53) long. It is called a sinfonietta because, while it has the elements of a full symphony, it is shorter. The entire piece is based on the motif in the first bar of the first movement, and that motif get transformed (hence the subtitle Transformations) in many different ways. It is like how a person changes in various situations and in various stages of their life. The first movement (Allegretto) is in sonata form, the second (Andante Adagio) is in a quasi ABA form, the third (Scherzoish) is a Baroque-like quasi scherzo and trio with a modified scherzo at the end, and the fourth (Theme & Variations) is a theme with 3 variations, but elements of the first 3 movements are repeated at the end. .

Composed by Scott Markle. 20th Century,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 53 pages. MarcoPolo Press #5753777. Published by MarcoPolo Press (A0.1021048).

Elijah is a symphonic poem written for orchestra. It portrays the 4 main scenes in the life of Elijah (from the Bible): by a brook (Isolation), in a village (Interdependence), on a mountain (Crisis), and in a cave (Disappointment and Hope). These 4 conditions are relevant to the life of everyone. This piece requires 3-4 percussionists, depending on their proficiency. It was performed by a community orchestra that I am in; so if you need an instrumental substitute based on your ensemble (e.g. bassoon instead of bass clarinet), please email me and I will try to create that part for you. Its duration is 4:33, and it is at an intermediate level. .

Composed by Adam Grim. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 4 pages. Adam B. Grim #5726213. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939372).

This piece is inspired by Terry Riley's In CRepetitions is a solo for found objects and The Repeater Orchestra, a free program online that mimics live sounds in real time, and plays them back in a stereo/spacial environment. It has non-standard notation in a way, with single bits written on a staff arranged in an order to play them. The player is given freedom to repeat things as many times as they want, making the piece possible to play in under 2 minutes, to well into the dozens. In my interpretation (shown in the YouTube video), it takes around 11 minutes. This piece is about making a soundscape of repeated patterns, and overlapping and combining them to create one conglomerate.

Instruments include: planks of wood, a bucket of water, ceramic tiles, a glass bottle with marbles in it, a can, and a separate glass bottle for hitting.
Implements include: a 2 paintbrush, a ring, rubber xylophone mallets, and oak dowel rods with Moleskin wrapped on one tip. Note, I apologize for the feedback near the first third of the recording, I had to adjust the settings, and did not hear the feedback as hard as the computer did!

Composed by 12th Century Plainchant. Arranged by Robert Myers. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Score and parts. 76 pages. WheatMyer Music #4798079. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976721).

DIVINUM MYSTERIUM is a chant tune dating to the 12th century which is associated with the hymn, Of the Father's Love Begotten, based on the Latin hymn, Corde natus ex parentis, written by Prudentius in the late 4th / early 5th century. This is thus one of the very oldest texts and tunes still sung in our churches today.

The shape and flow of this arrangement, which includes quotations from CANTIQUE de NOEL (O Holy Night) – Adolphe Adam (1844), was strongly influenced by what one writer described as the strong wave shapes of the tune. I’ve attempted to make these waves a significant feature of the piece, featured in both the constant crescendo/decrescendos and the interweaving of the two tunes. And, just as ocean waves don’t arrive in steady rhythms, these musical waves are variable – sometimes closely spaced, sometimes not, and sometimes overlapping.

The unique character of each of the three major sections is implied in their headings: (1) with mystery and wonder, (2) Joyfully – a child is born, and (3) contemplative – God is with us.

The opening section portrays the mystery of the trinity (the hymn text was written as an apology for the Nicene Creed) mixed with the wonder of the Creator God lying in a manger. Since the tune is derived from medieval chant, I wanted this section to reflect the loose metrical nature of that genre, so the melodic phrasing should predominate over any sense of meter up to letter C. The initial tonal and metrical ambiguity and the fractured melodic lines gradually meld into conventional tonality and clear statements of the two main themes. Don’t let the poco rit. just before C be too poco. Build a definite sense of tension in anticipation of the Presto section.

The Presto section presents the first complete statement of the main theme. I felt a strong, rhythmic treatment should follow the ambiguity of the opening to reflect the joy of the Messiah’s incarnation realized. However, the gravity of the text demands avoidance of frivolity and banality. Thus, I used a combination of the long, flowing lines with a syncopated pulse and echoing rhythms to produce what I hope is a fresh but still reverent treatment of this ancient hymn – one that produces a kaleidoscope of tonal color.

Arriving at the third section at letter F, the asymmetrical pulse gradually shifts into a straight 3 pattern. The slower tempo and return of the secondary theme call us to reflect on the import of God now with us. The marking of Let off the gas and coast to the end is a word picture of how the tempo should draw to a close, as would an expert helmsman allow the ship’s momentum to stop just as it taps the dock. One parting moment is provided to savor the woodwinds closing phrase from CANTIQUE de NOEL.

Composed by Juan Guerra González. Classical,Contemporary. 30 pages. Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez #806440. Published by Juan Carlos Guerra Gonzalez (A0.1208333).

“Munamiktia†(To marry) is based on the six sones from “Los Chapetones†(a folkloric dance from Panchimalco, El Salvador). “Los Chapetones†is a satiric dance portraying the social constructs of the Colonial time. It represents a wedding between Doña Lucrecia de Castilla and Don Tomás Rainer with the intention of making an alliance between Turkey and Spain. The investigation of this dance and its original music was made possible thanks to Aracely Sánchez  (cultural researcher),  Marcial Gudiel (folkloric dance researcher), and Concepción Clará de Guevara (anthropologist) for the creation of the work “Panchimalco†in 1982 work that was commissioned by the National Dance School of El Salvador “Morena Celariéâ€. The editors of the “Diccionario de la Música Española e Hispanoamericana†(Dictionary of Spanish and Hispanic Music) found this dance was unique in its genre in America and the Caribbean making “Los Chapetones†something exclusive from El Salvador.

For this work, a part of each one of the sones is transformed in its rhythm or intervals to put them in melodies or in lines for the bass that have been harmonized in a different way while interacting with themes created especially for this work. The title, which in Nahuat means to marry, also serves as a reference to the union between the traditional themes used and the composer’s own musical language.

Munamiktia (To marry) was written for the Salvadoran Composers Competition organized by the Pan American Symphony Orchestra (PASO) in Washington, DC. Given its originality, the Jury decided, after a long deliberation, to award it second place. The World Premiere will take place during their 21/22 season after PASO resumes activities due to COVID.

* The actual World Premiere took place on March 25th, 2023 in Washington D.C. With the Pan American Symphony Orchestra (PASO) conducted by the composer.

Composed by Camille Saint-Saens. Arranged by Arkady Leytush. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 85 pages. Arkady Leytush #6621571. Published by Arkady Leytush (A0.1008426).

When I discovered this composition of Saint-Saens written for 2 pianos, I was struck by
his amazing penetration into the Polish spirit and ability to express it in bright and rich colors.
On the other hand however, I could not get rid of the feeling of some heaviness and excessive density of the sound of the piano duet. In addition, the character of this music and its development are permeated with symphonic techniques inherent in orchestral compositions. These circumstances pushed me to undertake the orchestration of this work, which on the symphonic stage would have received great fame and legitimate public recognition.
