Composed by LORENZO ONDARRA QUINTANA. 20th Century,Praise & Worship,Religious. 84 pages. OE OFICINA #714754. Published by OE OFICINA (A0.1112762).

Para 4 voces mixtas y orquesta sinfónica - I Centenario Provinciae Capucinae Nav. - Cant. - Arag. ORCHESTRAL SCORES ARE AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL The Te Deum for mixed choir and symphony orchestra by Lorenzo Ondarra (1931- 2012) was composed in 1998 at the request of the Provincial Curia of the Capuchin Friars, to commemorate the First Centenary, in 2000, of the Restoration of the Navarre, Cantabria and Aragón Capuchin Province. The main theme is the Gregorian melody of the Te Deum, a thanksgiving hymn, which combines the melody of the Tonus Solemnis and the Tonus Simplex. The Gregorian melody alternates between the choir and the orchestra, and develops in a free style as a paraphrase, with frequent melodic movements through parallel fourths and fifths: a typical feature of Ondarra’s compositional language. Modal features permeate the entire work, succeeding one another with tonal sections and even bitonal elements. Ondarra’s orchestration reflects an outstanding work, in which the wind instruments, together with the ubtlety of the woods and strings, plays an important role. Through its deep religiosity, the work combines recollection and the invitation to prayer with moments of brilliance in the treatment of the voices, which are exquisitely interwoven with the orchestral timbres. Lorenzo Ondarraren abesbatza misto eta orkestra sinfonikorako Te Deum (1931- 2012) 1998an konposatu zen Anaia Kaputxinoen Probintzia Kuriaren enkarguz, 2000. urtean Nafarroa, Kantabria eta Aragoiko Kaputxinoen probintziaren zaharberritzearen lehenengo mendeurrena ospatzeko. Material tematiko nagusia Te Deum -eko melodía gregorianoa da, Tonus Solemnis-eko eta Tonus Simplex- eko melodiak aldizkatuz. Melodia gregorianoa txandaka azaltzen da koruaren eta orkestraren bitartez interpretatuz eta Ondarraren konposatzeko eran ohikoa den bezala estilo libre batean parafrasi moduan garatuta eta gehienetan laudun eta bostun paraleloekin egindako melodiekin osatuta dago. Obra ezaugarri modalez beterik dago, sekzio tonalak eraikiz edota elementu bitonalak izanik. Ondarraren orkestrazioak lan paregabea helarazten du, haize-instrumentuen presentzia nagusituz eta zur-instrumentuen eta hari instrumentuen presentzia sotilduz. Obra honek, sakoneko erlijiotasuna eta ahotsen eta orkestraren arteko nahasketa paregabea konbinatzen ditu.

Composed by Malcolm D Robertson. Contemporary. 171 pages. Mr Malcolm D Robertson #6638445. Published by Mr Malcolm D Robertson (A0.928012).

Composed between the 21st July & the 18th October 2021, my 3rd Symphony, at around 34 minutes in duration, is the longest of my three symphonies to date & my most substantial purely orchestral score. The Symphony is in four movements following a fast-slow-fast-slow format. It is a dark probing & at times disturbing score. The Symphony makes much use of the very dark Locrian mode with its prominent diminished 5th (tritone). The 1st movement is angry & driven with a swirling energy. The 2nd movement is a kind of sad processional which builds to protesting battering climax before ending in a sense of resignation. The 3rd movement marked 'with malice' ranges from a sense of waspish humour to downright arrogant brutallity. The slow 4th movement is the longest movement, the opening hinting at two works by Wagner & Holst. The movement has a sense of questioning & searching, perhaps a single word 'why?' sums the movement up & to some extent the Symphony too.

What is American Classical music? This CD contains Mark O'Connor's latest orchestral works: Americana Symphony Variations on Appalachia Waltz(2006) and Concerto No. 6 Old Brass (2003). Sony Classical//BMG label director Gilbert Hetherwick explains; Dvorak and Copland painted symphonic landscapes using melodies inspired by the Americana tradition, and Mark O'Connor actually comes from that tradition itself. He's lived it every day of his life. And you hear it in every note of his Americana Symphony. For the majority of his solo career, O'Connor has dedicated himself to composing for orchestra: he has written six full-length concertos, several orchestral suites and string orchestra compositions, and most recently his first Symphony.

David Wallace, Juilliard School faculty member and Senior Teaching Artist with the New York Philharmonic, comments on the overall characteristics of O'Connor's music: The Americana Symphony combines historical narrative with classical and folk variation principles. The Symphony contains instrumental virtuosity, rhythmic drive, poignant lyricism, and probing counterpoint. With the Americana Symphony, Mark O'Connor provides his answer to a question that has intrigued U. S. composers since the debut of Dvorak's New World Symphony in 1892: How do you write the great American Symphony?

William Intrilligator, artistic director of the Dubuque Symphony, conducted one of the first performances of the Americana Symphony: Very few pieces of new music have the same emotional and visceral effect as this Symphony, he writes. It has such power and beauty, and these traits are expressed in original ways that are pure O'Connor and truly American.

Marin Alsop, artistic director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and this recording's conductor of the Americana Symphony, calls the Symphony simply A hit!

Composed by Robin M. Butler. 20th Century,Classical,Film/TV,Romantic Period,Traditional. 22 pages. Robin Butler #921134. Published by Robin Butler (A0.1335304).

Adagio A Silent Tear is a somber piece I wrote to capture the emotions and struggle felt through the loss of those closest to us. The use of sentimental melodies accompanied with emerging harmonies was inspired by music of the early 20th century, with orchestration inspired by a variety of composers from Tchaikovsky to Samuel Barber. I wrote the piece in ternary form to tell a sort of story, one of tears, struggle, and sorrow. However, at the end, struggle falls away as hope breaks through, imagined in the piece through the final climax.

It was premired by the UMSL Symphony Orchestra in the fall of 2018.

Composed by Jerry Goldsmith. Arranged by Chris Siddall. Film/TV. 9 pages. Chris Siddall Music Publishing #983553. Published by Chris Siddall Music Publishing (A0.1400367).

Director Phillip Noyce, who had helmed the previous two entries in the Jack Ryan franchise (with scores by James Horner), was replaced at the last minute on 2002’s The Sum of All Fears by Phil Alden Robinson. Despite his prior collaborations with Robinson, Horner stepped aside and thus the scoring assignment went to Jerry Goldsmith.  In the years following his magnificent stretch of production in 1998 and 1999,  Goldsmith’s output had slowed to a crawl and The Sum of All Fears proved to be a welcome return to form. Featuring a song which was later revealed to be an extension of his tribute to the victims of the 9/11 attacks, Goldsmith created an outstanding score with moments of solemn beauty contrasted with robust action music.

Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. An opportunity not to be missed!
