On that day, amid accompanying splendour, the music-loving Grand Duke Michail Nikolaievich (1832-1909), youngest brother of Tsar Alexander II, married Princess Caecilie of Baden (1839-91), daughter of Archduke Leopold of Baden. Johann Strauss, who at that time was giving a summer season of concerts in nearby Pavlovsk, used the opportunity occasioned by the event to enhance his already enviable popularity with the Russian royal family and composed the Caecilien-Polka in honour of the lovely young bride. Indeed, it is clear from a letter which Johann wrote in late July 1857 to Carl Haslinger, his publisher in Vienna, that the new polka had been prepared well in advance of the wedding (the fair copy of the full orchestral score made for the publisher's engraver is dated 9 August) and was enjoying success even before the royal couple's official engagement on 16August 1857. Sometime after performing the Caecilien-Polka in Pavlovsk, Johann despatched the work to the Austrian capital where his brother Josef conducted its Viennese première, together with that of Johann's waltz Telegraphische Depeschen (op. 195, Volume 28), at his own benefit concert in the Volksgartenon Sunday 18 October 1857. The Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (16.10.1857) remarked that both works have caused a sensation in St. Petersburg and are truly genial Viennese sounds full of verve and melody. Since tradition demanded that the German Princess Caecilie adopt a Russian name - Olga Feodorovna - before her marriage, so Johann's Caecilien-Polka also underwent a change of identity. On 8 December 1857 Carl Haslinger announced the publication of Strauss's Olga-Polka, on the title page of which is the inscription: Dedicated to her Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Olga, née Princess of Baden. It was under this title, too, that Johann himself first conducted the work in Vienna at a concert in the Volksgarten on 1 November 1857, shortly after his return from Russia. Reporting on this event, the Wiener Allgemeine Theaterzeitung (3.11.1857) observed: The 'Olga-Polka' is a most delightful, fragrant musical bouquet, full of fine, gracious rhythms. By means of the orchestra, as in painting, you can try to reproduce the whole mysterious picture of such an episode full of passion, nocturnal rustles, fear of being discovered by the family of your beloved and even the sudden opening of the window, but in the end, a hasty escape by flight, without finishing the serenade to the end.La puerta del Vino,#3(II)While creating the orchestral version of this Debussy prelude, two things stood before my eyes -the seductive Habanera performed by an oriental beauty and the unforgettable beauty of Alhambra. FRC Music #647546. Published by FRC Music (A0.1042766). John MILES: Music (Was My First Love) for Orchestra (FULL SCORE and Parts) Powerful and thrilling arrangement for Orchestra. The message echoed the words of Miles's biggest hit: Music was my first love / And it will be my last / Music of the future / And music of the past. Miles wrote the track in just half an hour, while killing time in Leeds between concerts. It's a relatively simple song - consisting of eight repeated lines extolling his love of music - but the rich, elaborate orchestration made it a pop landmark to rival MacArthur Park and Bohemian Rhapsody. You, your musicians will love playing this amazing arrangement. above all, your audience will be impressed by the power of this song. Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.597309 Composed by Pietro Mascagni. Arranged by Flavio Regis Cunha. Christian,Concert,Easter,Romantic Period,Sacred. Score and parts. 46 pages. Flavio Regis Cunha #5310589. Published by Flavio Regis Cunha (A0.597309). This is a music of great beauty and exuberance. In this new arrangement, based on the Berlin edition: Bote & Bock, and the Kalmus edition, the arranger Flavio Regis Cunha sought to follow Mascagni's intentions when orchestrating his Easter Hymn for full orchestra. There is nothing like this original orchestration, where there are creative and powerful passages for brasses and woodwinds and a string background during the middle section. The work ends in a majestic and grandiose way with the woods and strings in the high register, together with the beauty, the brightness and the impact of the Timpani and the brasses. This score is certainly a great addition for your orchestra. You and your orchestra will love playing this piece. Your audience will be delighted. The work will be well received and can be used in the Easter period or in services.Orchestration 2.2.2.2 - 2.2.3.1 - Timp - Choir SSATTB - Org - Str INSTRUMENTATION 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, 2 Clarinets in Bb,2 Bassoons, 2 Horns in F, 2 Trumpets in C, 2 Trombones, Bass Trombone, Tuba, Timpani SSATTB Choir, Organ, Strings.

Full Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.751048 Composed by Traditional Welsh Tune. Arranged by Brendan Elliget MAGA 537. Folk. Score and parts. 35 pages. BJE Music #6506175. Published by BJE Music (A0.751048). The Ash Grove -The first published version of the tune was in 1802 in The Bardic Museum, a book written by the Welsh harpist Edward Jones. About four years later a version with words appeared, under the name Llwyn Onn. It tells of a sailor's love for Gwen of Llwyn. At the end of the song, Gwen dies, and in one version of the piece, the writer talks about him mourning and that she is lying 'neath the shades of the lonely ash grove. The tune might be much older, as a similar air appears in The Beggar's Opera by John Gay (1728), in the song Cease Your Funning. [Wikipedia]This arrangement is for the Orchestra with most instruments getting a turn at playing this well-known melody.Grade = 3.5 Duration = 2:34 minsThe MP3 was recorded with NotePerformer 3.
