Swing means testing the waters and pushing the envelope for lovers and soldiers.Fall is the slow movement symbolizing the wisdom of maturity. It is a peaceful theme with nostalgic strokes. It is a time for sincere reflection and enjoying ones accomplishments in life.Winter embodies the complexities and knowledge of an older person and that of a dying person. The movement begins with the principal them from Spring, but with a dissonance that emanates from a lifetime full of emotions and responsibilities. In the middle of the movement is a transition to an old world. I use my personal ancestry from Ireland as a foundation from which to rediscover one's lineage and explore the meaning and value of a cultural legacy.The exploration evolves into a four- and five-part fugue with a reel, jig, air, countered bass and the motif from the principal theme. All these elements, dances and melodies appear simultaneously and converge to form a unique insight to life's consequences from a historical perspective. The Valley of the Dry Bones is based off of the chapter in Ezekiel The Valley of the Dry Bones (from the Bible) symbolizes the Israelites' revival and God's power and sovereignty Ezekiel 37:1-6The hand of the Lord was upon me, and He brought me out by the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley; and it was full of bones. He caused me to pass among them round about, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley; and lo, they were very dry. He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, You know.” Again He said to me, “Prophesy over these bones and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord.’ Thus says the Lord God to these bones, ‘Behold, I will cause breath [spirit] to enter you that you may come to life. I will put sinews on you, make flesh grow back on you, cover you with skin and put breath in you that you may come alive; and you will know that I am the Lord.’”Ezekiel is called by the Lord, and given a vision. Ezekiel is set down in a valley full of bones. This is not some symbolic imagery, but these are literally dead people, long dead. God asks Ezekiel if he believes the bones can come back to life, and Ezekiel says only the Lord knows. God gives Ezekiel a prophesy concerning all the dead. At a future date, God will cause breath (His Spirit) to enter the bones so that they may come to life. God will use His power (which is always through the Spirit of God) to cause these dead to be resurrected. We know this isn’t symbolic of spiritual death and spiritual life because of the graphic imagery that is used.

The score prints on legal size paper and the parts on letter. I. From the Faraway Nearby The highly charged contrast of closely viewed foreground details and hugely distant horizons, which typified the New Mexican Views of O'Keeffe, was not a mere optical illusion. The large scale, bright light, and clear air of the region permitted one to see for the proverbial forever, and the juxtaposition of faraway and nearby was an integral aspect of desert vision. Soft dynamics and orchestration represent the faraway while the loud dynamics and orchestration represent the nearby. Near the end, the faraway and nearby begin to merge. II. Jimson Weed, White Flower No. 1 This painting depicts one of O'Keeffe's favorite subjects: a magnified flower. To her, the delicate blooms stood as some of the most overlooked pieces of naturally occurring beauty, objects that the bustling contemporary world ignored. So she made it her mission to highlight their complex structures, explaining: When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not. This movement is slow and lyrical reflecting the beauty of the close-up image. III. Red Hills and Bone O'Keeffe 's most effective composition of bones in the landscape appeared in 1941, with Red Hills and Bone; the large canvas is also among her most ambitions evocations of the arid country of which she was by then an owner, having purchase the house at Ghost Ranch the preceding year. In 1939, O'Keeffe had written of the bones as strangely more living than the animals walking around, and in the 1941 painting her response is given visual from. The minimalistic noodling represents the red hills and the bold triplets represent the mystique of the bone. IV. Ladder to the Moon             This painting shows a handmade wooden ladder suspended in the turquoise sky. In the background are the pitch-black Pedernal Mountains and a pearl colored half moon. This painting was very similar to a picture taken of O'Keeffe and her surroundings at Ghost Ranch. In the picture, a large wooden ladder is leaned against an outer wall of a patio from where it rises up into the sky with the Pedernal Mountains in the background. In Pueblo culture the ladder is used to symbolize the link between the Pueblos and cosmic forces. The fact that the ladder is pointed up in the sky may represent the link between nature and the cosmos. While there are motifs that depict specifics of the painting, such as the scale-wise ascending and descending figure for the crescent mood and rising arpeggios for the ladder, the focus of this movement is the spiritual element. The music rises and grows in intensity from a ground bass-like theme to a soaring ending.

One of the Masterpieces of Chinese Music of 20th Century The magnificent cave art at Dunhuang, in Western China sets the stage for the ballet, “Dream of Dunhuang�. In the middle of the vast wastes of Western China, lies the oasis of Dunhuang, situated in today‘s Gansu Province. Since the Western Han Dynasty(202BC-8AC), Dunhuang was an important trading and cultural center on the famous “Silk Road’, the ribbon of communication which fostered the historic ties between East and West. In the East was China, source of treasured trading articles such as silk; in the West, the �road“ branched to Venice, and north to what is today‘s Russia. The mural led caves at Dunhuang, which were begun the Northern Wei dynasty(336AD), and developed over one thousand years into the Qing Dynasty, re presents one of the world‘s richest cultural treasures. Drawing on bothn Western(Indian and Persian) as well as Chinese tradition, the caves, of which 492 remain intact, were decorated as a mines of religious devotion, with the initiation of Buddhism into China. The subjects of the murals, such as devise, demons, apsaras and bodhisattvas, represent the entire pantheon of Buddhist mythology, yet are also significant in their representation of muti-racial and muti-cultural influences, standing as an important testament to the age old exchange between East and West. A fabricated fantasia, the story of the ballet was inspirited by the famous artist, maestro Chang Shu-hong, who dedicated his whole life to Dunhuang. One of the Huang An-lun‘s major compositions with the play written by Xu Qing-dong, the score of “Dream of Dunhuang� was completed in mid-1979. The ballet has been dedicated to the composer‘s closest friends, Canadian writers John Fraser and Elizabeth MacCallun. Up to the date this CD being released, the ballet has never got a chance to performed in mainland China. Nevertheless, its music has been wildly performed and warmly received around the world. The Singapore premiere of its suite No.1 was performed by the SSO, conducted by Maestro Lim Yao. It has been also chosen as one of the “Master Piece of Chinese Music in 20th Century� in 1993. The world premiere of the complete ballet was performed successfully by the Russian State Ballet of Moscow, directed by its artist director, Vyatcheslav Godeyev, in 1994. Choreographed by Chen Min, it was took place in Taiwan with the Taiwan Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro David C.H.Chen. In 2002, ROI of Hong Kong has released the CD of the whole ballet, performed by the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra of Moscow. This is also the audio file attached. Before this recording conducted by the composer himself, the entire score was also performed by the Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra of Moscow in1995. The YouTube video was the World Premiere in Taiwan by the Russia National Ballet with the Taiwan symphony Orchestra, conducted by David Chen in 1994. The ballet, “ Dream of Dunhuang� depicts two young artists seeking the ultimate experience in love and expression. This two lovers arrived at desert and with the guidance of the celestial maiden, they discover the miracles of Dunhuang. Not even the pianist is allowed to sit by and idly accompany Margaret's journey into self-empowerment. Is it a battle between the sexes? Certainly not. It's more like power, domination and the pure thrill of ordering others around.
