Keith Mansfield (born 1941 in London, England) is a British composer and arrangerknown for his creation of prominent television theme tunes, including the Grandstandtheme for the BBC.Mansfield's works include The Young Scene (the original 1968 theme to The Big Match), Light and Tuneful (the opening theme for the BBC's coverage of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships), World Champion (the closing theme for NBC's coverage of the same tournament), and World Series (used for the BBC's athletics coverage). One of his library music recordings, Teenage Carnival, was used as the theme to the cult 1960s ITV children's television series Freewheelers. He has also composed film scores for British movies such as Loot (1970) and Taste of Excitement (1970), and the western Three Bullets for a Long Gun (1971). He also scored the start-up and shutdown themes for Granada Television in 1978, which were used for ten years before it switched to 24-hour television.

Writer-producer George Miller, the director behind the Mad Max movies, had heard about Dick King-Smith’s children’s book The Sheep-Pig and dreamed about turning it into a movie. When it came to writing the score he turned to Jerry Goldsmith, with whom he had previously collaborated on his segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie (Nightmare at 20,000 Feet). Fate however, stepped in when Jerry sent his work in progress. Miller felt that the music was too beautiful and lyrical, that it should play up the darker moments in the story. With a typically busy schedule, Goldsmith had no time available to rewrite the score, so the process of selecting a replacement began. Babe was being produced in Australia, which made communicating with LA-based composers a challenge, so six local composers were invited to audition, and Nigel Westlake was selected for the role. Westlake deftly weaves well-known classical themes such as Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony and Delibes’ Pizzicati from the ballet Sylvia into his score, which sparkles and shines like the unprejudiced heart of the titular pig.Created from the original manuscript, this release offers a rare opportunity to study film music in its authentic, original orchestration and arrangement. Set in the 2060s, the series follows the exploits of International Rescue, an organisation that uses technologically-advanced rescue vehicles to save human life. The series was notable for using marionette puppets but being filmed in the style of a feature film, incorporating dynamic shooting and lighting, and three-dimensional sets and extensive use of model miniatures. Special effects were directed by Derek Meddings, who later became known for his work on the James Bond (from Live and Let Die to GoldenEye), Superman and Batman (1989) movies. During his time working on Thunderbirds and Gerry Anderson’s other Supermarionation series, Meddings and his team developed a number of innovations in the filming of miniature models and landscapes which have since become standard in the industry.Having collaborated with Anderson on six previous TV series, composer Barry Gray was the obvious choice to provide music for Thunderbirds. Employing a large orchestra which dwarfed other TV productions of the time, he made extensive use of leitmotif, which each of the Thunderbird machines having its own theme, as well as notable characters such as Lady Penelope and the Tracy family’s arch nemesis The Hood.Now musicians, music students, conductors – any music lover – can study the complete score from Thunderbirds: Trapped in the Sky in this high-quality edition, carefully reproduced and edited from the original handwritten manuscript.

Written and produced by front man Jeff Lynne, the song forms the fourth and final track of the Concerto for a Rainy Day suite, on side three of the original double album. Mr. Blue Sky was the second single to be taken from Out of the Blue, peaking at number 6 in the UK Singles Chart and number 35 in the US Billboard Charts.Like the album from which the single was issued, promotional copies were released on blue vinyl.
