Pied Piper of Hamelin was composed for Hessle Sinfonia, who performed it twice with their principal flute, Michael Taylor as soloist and the lyricist Ann Liles narrating, under my baton. Richard Sleight was soloist in the Isle of Axholme Symphony Orchestra's later performance. Show off the versatility and beauty of the flute and entrance the audience (!).There are characteristic themes for the children, the river, the mountain, the pied piper and the rats, variously combined.
