It became Verdi's most popular opera until it was superseded by Il trovatore after 1853. Let's hope that this can help to bring them back to public notice.

Physically, his appearance varies; he can take any form he wishes, from an old grandma to a giant crossing his mountains with one step. (Wikipedia).

When taken on its own, his music shows much of the artistry of Guiseppi Verdi; whose scores he edited, but with his own personal style!This overture is rarely played, but has a fabulous selection of themes and orchestral colour so typical of Sullivan - it deserves to be performed more often. The score has been edited to co-ordinate articulations and dynamics which have been missed in the hand-written parts.Print the parts double-sided, including title pages where present, and the page turns will work.Enjoy!
