Flute and basso continuo - intermediate - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q15874

Composed by Giovanni Benedetto Platti. This edition: Sheet music. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable. Op. 3/3. Schott Music - Digital #Q15874. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15874).

Key: E minor.

Giovanni Benedetto Platti was probably born in Venice about 1700; he came to Würzburg in 1722 in the company of a group of Italian musicians. He was resident in Würzburg as a member of the prince-bishop's court chapel until his death in 1763. As a versatile musician - as the period demanded - Platti wrote sacred compositions and chamber music works, mainly for harpsichord and violoncello. The series of six flute sonatas provide an exception to the norm - a fact which can also be deduced from the dedication of the pieces. It is addressed to a gentlemen in Cologne - a Signor Pietro Filippo di Krufft ... della Collegiata di Santo Cuniberto in Colonia. The original title of the complete opus, the third sonata of which is published in a new edition in this volume, is: Sei Sonate/a Flauto Traversiere Solo con Violoncello overo Cembalo/ ... /Composte dà/Giovanni Platti .../.../Opera Terza/Alle Spese di Giovanni Ulrico Haffner .../Nro. VI. The date of the publication must be 1742. Haffner began printing in this year, and Platti's Op. 1-4 are among the first works published by him. This new edition is based entirely on a copy in the Bavarian State Library, Munich. As always, it is only one of many possibilities.

Per Flauto traverso e Basso. Composed by Pietro Antonio Locatelli. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Volume op. 2/7-12. Schott Music - Digital #Q23830. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q23830).

These 12 Sonatas for transverse flute and bass were first published in Amsterdam in 1723 to a very positive reception. This can be demonstrated not only by the existence of numerous pirate copies, but also through instances such as the fact that part of the tenth Sonata has been preserved in the fine inlaid work on a table top made of imitation marble belonging to Prince Friedrich von Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. They show elements of the emerging style galant and are distinguished by surprising turns of phrase and an extraordinary variety of expression. From a stylistic point of view this collection represents a valuable contribution to the genre of the solo sonata, which was at that time gaining pre-eminence over the trio sonata.

Flute and basso continuo - intermediate - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q15878

Composed by Franz Xaver Richter. This edition: Sheet music. Il Flauto traverso. Downloadable. Schott Music - Digital #Q15878. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q15878).

Key: G major.
