The Young Prince and The Young Princess is from Rimsky-Korsakov’s Symphonic Suite entitled Scheherazade. This arrangement is for Late Intermediate Level Piano/Keyboard Duet. The written range is kept mostly within the staff and the appropriate performance range of pitches on the keyboard is achieved by octave displacement, i.e. the Primo part is performed an octave higher than written and the Secondo an octave lower. A fairy tale full of inspiration written by a child was the stimulus for the creation of this polytonal work for orchestra. With humor and innocence, piquant orchestration and cinematic use of the sound, the work is dedicated to the child, Michalis Tillianakis and to Eleftherios Geitonas, director of Geitonas School who gave the idea for this project.
The work has been transcribed for piano, 4 hands op.34b, for the Duo Pianismo recital in Benetatou Cultural Center of Psihiko in 2010 and for wind quintet op.34c for the Q innegal Wind Quintet Concerts in Athens in 2011 (Attikon OdeionConservatory, Art Gallery Café, Athens, Perigiali Theater, Korinthos). Excerpts of the work has been transcribed for Chamber Orchestra op.34d and performed by Psychiko Youth Orchestra conducted by the composer at Arssakeion Educational Institute Theater in 2016.

Imaginations is designed to introduce students (and perhaps teachers!) to playing contemporary music. There are five different lesson pieces with teacher and student duet parts. A teacher can supplement traditional method book pieces with one of the Imaginations pieces to keep a student’s interest with something new and different. These pieces have accessible contemporary tonal harmony and use basic contemporary practices such as cluster chords, whole tone scales, and glissandos. Their difficulty range from level one through level two. Explanations of these contemporary ideas are explained for the student, and the teacher is given teaching and discussion prompts to encourage a student’s higher-level thinking skills. The final piece is a fun musical story with musical motifs played by teacher and student. The teacher reads the story aloud and the student and teacher play musical motifs when they hear keywords throughout the story. Titles of all five pieces: Snowing in July, Brewing a Magic Potion, Waltz for a Chocolate Upside-down Carousel, The Aliens Have Landed..., and The Piano Lesson.
