Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740006 Composed by Erik Satie (1866-1925). Arranged by Len Rhodes. 20th Century,Concert,Graduation. Score and parts. 5 pages. Len Rhodes Music #5198065. Published by Len Rhodes Music (A0.740006). Satie - Gnossiennes no. 1, transcribed for piano duet. The melodic line is shared between the hands in the upper part - I have included the acciaccatura's, but these can be omitted if too challenging. The lower player has the chord progression, as Satie intended, only shared between the hands. Arranger's note: Erik Satie often added whimsical instructions to his music: Light as an egg, Here comes the lantern, Open your head,Muffle the sound, Work it out yourself, etc. I have included, and translated, those he applied to this piece.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.740007 Composed by Erik Satie (1866-1925). Arranged by Len Rhodes. 20th Century,Concert,Graduation. Score and parts. 12 pages. Len Rhodes Music #5200099. Published by Len Rhodes Music (A0.740007). Satie - Trois Gnossiennes for piano transcribed, and NOW AVAILABLE for piano duet. The three pieces have been perfectly arranged for the late elementary/early intermediate pianist on the higher part (primo); and a teacher or more advanced pianist on the lower part (secundo). In no. 1. the melodic line is shared between the hands in the upper part - the acciaccatura's are included, but these can be omitted if too challenging. The lower player has the chord progression, as Satie intended, only shared between the hands. In no. 2, the melodic line is doubled in the upper part (hands an octave apart). The lower part has the chord progression. In no. 3, the melodic line is again shared between the hands in the upper part - the few acciaccatura's are included, but these can be omitted if too challenging. Bar 24- 34 is an example of Satie's innovative new scales, in this case a simple six-note scale, constructed with the notes from the E minor and F# major triad chords. Arranger's note: Erik Satie often added whimsical instructions to his music: Light as an egg, Here comes the lantern, Open your head,Muffle the sound, Work it out yourself, etc. I have included, and translated, those he applied to these pieces.Your download is all THREE pieces.

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1485605 Composed by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf. Arranged by Allan Badley. Classical. Score. 67 pages. Artaria Editions #1062670. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1485605). The parts are marked carefully although Dittersdorf is not over-detailed in his instructions to the performers. One major lacuna exists in the score: the primo part is missing from bar 42 to 129 in the Finale, in narrative terms, from the rage which culminates in Ajax stabbing himself with Achilles' sword to the miraculous appearance of the purple flowers. The editor has completed this section, basing it in part on earlier material and also on the clues provided in the secondo part. Otherwise, the edition presents few problems: the style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout and, where missing from the source, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Like most eighteenth-century sources, the manuscript is at times inconsistent in its notation of appoggiature; these too have been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets. Allan Badley.

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1485603 Composed by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf. Arranged by Allan Badley. Classical. Score. 75 pages. Artaria Editions #1062669. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1485603). Unlike the narratives concerning the death of Hercules, and his transformation into a god, and the dispute between Ajax and Ulysses over the weapons of Achilles, the story of Jason's capture of the Golden Fleece provided Dittersdorf with few opportunities for genuine pictorial writing. His explanation for the piano second theme in the first movement seems a little glib – it is, after all, a favourite device of his in non-programmatic works as well but Medea's beautiful soliloquy in the second movement, assigned here to the primo part and in all probability to a wind solo in the original, is as effective as anything in the extant orchestral scores of the Ovid symphonies. His choice of a Ciaconna for the Finale is not only highly appropriate given the heroic theme of the work, but also neatly solves the problem of how to end the symphony unconventionally in the absence of a transformation scene of the kind found in the other symphonies. Yet again, one marvels at Dittersdorf 's powerful creative imagination. The parts are marked carefully although Dittersdorf is not over-detailed in his instructions to the performers. The occasional copying errors provide insufficient evidence to determine whether the parts were copied from a piano score or prepared directly from the composer's full orchestral score. Little editorial work has been necessary to prepare this edition. The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout and, where missing from the source, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Like most eighteenth-century sources, the manuscript is at times inconsistent in its notation of appoggiature ; these too have been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets.  Allan Badley.

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1127872 Composed by Philip Le Bas. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Score. 12 pages. Philip Le Bas #728481. Published by Philip Le Bas (A0.1127872). Incidental music composed for piano duet (4-hands) in four parts by Philip Le Bas to accompany the Japanese folk tale (ghost story) Yuki-Onna (Snow Woman). This piano duet developed out of a cross-cultural project initiated at Morley College, London, in early 2019, aiming to create a melodrama for piano solo and spoken voice to be performed in northern Japan later in the year by young students of the piano. It is based on the ghost-story above, which is widely known in Japan. The tale was transcribed and published by Lafcadio Hearn (Koizumi Yakumo) in 1904 as part of his book “Kwaidan: Stories and Studies of Strange Thingsâ€, a collection that has been highly influential in expressing popular Japanese culture over the past century. Synopsis of the tale of Yuki-Onna: Two wood-cutters, Mosaku and his apprentice Minokichi, encounter a terrible snow-storm and take shelter in an empty hut by a river. The storm gets worse and worse, but they both finally fall asleep. When Minokichi wakes, he sees a woman all in white bending over Mosaku breathing bright white smoke onto his face. She then approaches Minokichi. She is very beautiful, but her eyes make him afraid. After a while she says, “I intended to do the same to you as I did to the old man, but I feel pity for you because you are a pretty young man. If you ever tell anybody what you have seen, however, I will kill you too.†And she vanishes into the snow storm. It is then that Minokichi discovers Mosaku dead on the floor of the hut. Years later Minokichi meets a beautiful girl, who calls herself O-Yuki. He falls in love with her and they live together in his house, along with his mother, who fortunately takes a liking to her new “honourable daughter-in-law.†Over the years O-Yuki gives birth to ten children and the villagers all agree that she is a wonderful person. But she is somehow different from them, as she continues to look young and fresh, despite the passing years. Minokichi often thinks of telling O-Yuki about the events of years ago, and eventually, as he is gazing at her beauty one night, he can resist it no more. He begins to tell her about the snow storm and the terrifying snow-woman. To his horror O-Yuki becomes more and more angry, and she finally says: “It was me, it was me,… and I said I would kill you if you ever told anyone! But for these children asleep here, I would do so this very moment! You had better take very good care of them; for if ever they have reason to complain of you, I will treat you as you deserve!†As she screams at him her voice becomes thin, like the crying of the wind, and she melts into a bright white mist spiraling into the roof-beams. At that moment it starts to snow, but O-Yuki is never seen again.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596548 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 8 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4405060. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596548). Conjeturas sistemáticas (Systematic conjectures)  for piano four hands A piece composed in Bremen (North Germany) between 8th and 10th March 2013, about 4 minutes long, and dedicated to Mario García Acevedo in memoriam (who died on March 6, 2013 in Buenos Aires). The title alludes to a phrase that Mario García Acevedo said en passant during a lecture in SADAIC remembering the twentieth anniversary of the death of Rodolfo Caracciolo: True science is a set of systematic and ordered suspicions. I altered this thought slightly, because systematic suspicions seemed to me a more suitable title for a detective novel. Musically speaking, this piece uses modulating pandiatonism, a technique that I used in several other pieces as well.  Mario García Acevedo was one of those few people who can be said to have been wise in the most complete and overwhelming sense of the word. He was one of my teachers at the (ex) National Conservatory of Music, I no longer remember teacher of what, because he was the kind of person who was an integral teacher, not of this or that. I had the pleasure of performing the European premiere of his work Amanecer in Bremen in 2008. Marito delivered a speech during the burial of Juan Carlos Zorzi, ending with the words Maestro: Until the Resurrection! Let his words be also valid for him. Juan María Solare

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596575 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Jazz,World. Score and parts. 12 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4794271. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596575). About the title: - First of all, entradora is an adjective that can be applied to a femenine noun. (In Spanish you have different declinations for masculine and femenine adjectives). The masculine version is entrador.   - Second, entradora can be understood in this context as a substantivized adjective, i.e. a word that is actually an adjective, but is used as if it were a noun, like if I say Now I will play 'Entradora'. (for a more scientific explanation check yor favorite English grammar book).   - Third, entradora is a wink to Argentine composer Julián Plaza, who used adjectives as one-word title of several of his milongas and tangos, for instance Nocturna, Danzarín, Melancólico, Melancólica, Sensiblero, Nostálgico, Disonante, Dominguera, Expresivo, Futura, Instrumental, Juguetón, Paseandera, Payadora, Solemne, Temperamental - and possibly others that I am not aware of.   - And fourth, the meaning of the word entradora in the coloquial Spanish of Argentina is this one: if applied to a person, is someone that easily makes friends, that wins the trust of the people very easily, who is very charming. I applied to an object (or to a melody) it means that it is easy to grasp, that you remember it immediately (as an earworm), that is accessible and uncomplicated.   - Oh, there is a fifth point: are you native (or good) English speaker? After all this explanation do you come to an understandable translation of this word, Entradora? If yes, let me know! The milonga Entradora was composed in Bremen, Germany, from 10 to 13 November 2018. Duration: around 2'15. Premiere by Juan María Solare on 8 January 2019 at the theatre of the university of Bremen (recital Neue -und alte- Innigkeit, New -and old- intimism). Second version: for 8 instruments. Premiere: Orquesta No Típica, 22 January 2019, theatre of the university of Bremen. Third version: for piano four hands. Bremen, 16 January 2019. Premiere: Selma Hande Gade and Juan María Solare, Bellapais Spring Music Festival, Kyrenia, Cyprus, 16 April 2019.  Video by the composer in his private Studiohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f89TCd3di8  Entradora is dedicated to Gudrun Zelle.
