1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1515570 By Sharon Kaplan. By Sharon Kaplan. Arranged by Sharon Kaplan. 21st Century,Children,Contest,Festival. Score. 5 pages. Weopleland #1089922. Published by Weopleland (A0.1515570). This delightful elementary duet was the winner of the MN Teacher's Duet Composition contest in 2020 and is in the 2024-2028 Federation Festivals Bulleting in the Piano Duet Event, Primary Class I.  The piece gives both the Primo and the Secondo a chance to have the melody, and has some fun foot stomping and virtuostic looking hand crossings, but the hands are usually either in a C pentachord position or in a position radiating out from middle C.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596571 By Juan María Solare and Selma Hande Gade. By Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Blues,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 11 pages. Juan Maria Solare #4782389. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596571). Juan María Solare - Plena Plena (piano 4 hands) - by Juan María Solare - on Spotify Plena is a slow and expressive ballade for piano four hands. Duration: 5:15The piece is dedicated to Maria Grazia Mazzone (who also suggested Plena as title - in clear allusion to the Latin expression Ave Maria gratia plena). The first version (as a simple melody, even conceived as second theme of another future piece) was sketched in Bremen, Germany, on 20 August 2013. Much more material written on 1 July 2016. Corrections and precisions in different occasions. In theory it is also possible to perform Plena as a ballad for piano two hands. In planning, I have in mind a version for cello and piano. Premiere by Juan María Solare and Selma Hande Gade, 28 October 2018, Messiaskirken, Charlottenlund, Denmark. The piece was recorded by both pianists on 18th April 2019 at Pür Studio, Istanbul, and will be released on 10th January 2020 (label Janus Music & Sound, Germany). 1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1485603 Composed by Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf. Arranged by Allan Badley. Classical. Score. 75 pages. Artaria Editions #1062669. Published by Artaria Editions (A0.1485603). Unlike the narratives concerning the death of Hercules, and his transformation into a god, and the dispute between Ajax and Ulysses over the weapons of Achilles, the story of Jason's capture of the Golden Fleece provided Dittersdorf with few opportunities for genuine pictorial writing. His explanation for the piano second theme in the first movement seems a little glib – it is, after all, a favourite device of his in non-programmatic works as well but Medea's beautiful soliloquy in the second movement, assigned here to the primo part and in all probability to a wind solo in the original, is as effective as anything in the extant orchestral scores of the Ovid symphonies. His choice of a Ciaconna for the Finale is not only highly appropriate given the heroic theme of the work, but also neatly solves the problem of how to end the symphony unconventionally in the absence of a transformation scene of the kind found in the other symphonies. Yet again, one marvels at Dittersdorf 's powerful creative imagination. The parts are marked carefully although Dittersdorf is not over-detailed in his instructions to the performers. The occasional copying errors provide insufficient evidence to determine whether the parts were copied from a piano score or prepared directly from the composer's full orchestral score. Little editorial work has been necessary to prepare this edition. The style and notation of articulation and dynamic markings have been standardised throughout and, where missing from the source, markings have been reconstructed from parallel passages. These are indicated by the use of dotted slurs or brackets where appropriate. Like most eighteenth-century sources, the manuscript is at times inconsistent in its notation of appoggiature ; these too have been standardised to minimise confusion. Obvious wrong notes have been corrected without comment; editorial emendations with no authority from the source are placed within brackets.  Allan Badley.

Instrumental Duet Instrumental Duet,Piano - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.890701 Composed by John Pitts. Baroque,Contemporary. Score and parts. 36 pages. Intensely Pleasant Music #3424663. Published by Intensely Pleasant Music (A0.890701). Passacaglia (2000-2012) duet 6 minutes This piece also exists in versions for organ (my original version in 2000) and orchestra (performed by Bristol University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of John Pickard in 2001). The piano duet version was finally completed in 2012.  The theme is based on the ground bass from Bach’s stonking Passacaglia in C minor for organ. However, the implied harmonies of Bach’s original ground bass are treated to some twisted harmonies – where each chord is altered using a system of harmonic substitution - swapping each chord implication for a newly chosen one (Cm=C, Fm=F#, G=A, Dm=A¨, Eb=F and on it goes around the 12 chromatic notes).  Each key therefore has a ‘dominant’ and ‘subdominant’ that are not the actual chords V and IV in that key, so the traditional cadences and chord relationships are supplanted by 12 individual 3-chord relationships – one set of three chords for each of the 12 (now almost exclusively major) keys. In an attempt to recreate the pulls of the traditional tonic-dominant-subdominant relationships, each key then also has a particular mode/scale with particular added notes that are designed to recreate the sense of moving away from and back towards the home chord of that key. This results in a lot of rich added harmonies and some idiomatic voice-leading. Bach’s original theme in Cm is: C G - E¨ F - G A¨  - F G - D E¨ - B C -   F G   - C, and in the opening statement of the ground bass this has become: C A - E F# - A B¨ - F# A - D# E - C# C - F# A - C. There are then 21 variations which modulate through a range of keys, during which the ground bass is constantly re-adjusted to fit the new harmonic areas. It starts in C major, then goes through ‘closely’ related keys (eg A major and A¨ major), and then back to C in variations 6, 9 and 11. This kind of arch then happens again but going through more distant keys before returning to C in variations 18, 19 and the final climactic variation 21. Leaving aside the structural and tonal nuts and bolts, my aim was to compose a piece that attempts to recapture some of the nobility and beauty of Bach's Passacaglia, with rich added note harmonies, and exuding an exuberant joy.

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Digital Download SKU: A0.507278 Composed by Heather Cattanach. 20th Century,Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz. Score. 6 pages. Published by Heather Cattanach (A0.507278). Chamaeleon belongs to the Petrus Plancius constellations named for exotic animals. This colour-changing lizard lounges languidly in the sun until… snap! The long tongue whips out and captures the fly. On the star chart for the southern hemisphere Chamaeleon is sometimes illustrated with his tongue flicking out at Musca, the fly. In this Early Intermediate Piano Duet, Secondo plays a Latin style tumbao with the left hand and a montuno with the right hand. Primo’s rhythm is a bit tricky, but it often matches Secondo’s left hand. Perfect for Student and Teacher, siblings, or friends to play together. Performance Time 2 minutes. 5 pages. From “88 Constellations†a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano). (General Instructional, 20th Century, Modern, Repertoire, Recital, Latin, 1 Piano 4 Hands).

1 Piano,4 Hands,Piano Duet - Digital Download SKU: A0.507473 Composed by Heather Cattanach. 20th Century,Contemporary,Instructional,Latin. Score. 5 pages. Published by Heather Cattanach (A0.507473). It swims! It flies! Volans is a southern hemisphere constellation first named Piscis Volans (Flying Fish) by Petrus Plancius. It was included in Johann Bayer’s star atlas, Uranometria and its name was later shortened to Volans. In some constellation illustrations, Volans is pursued by the constellation Dorado, a bigger predator fish. But in this piece Volans appears to be enjoying the sunshine and sea. Secondo carries the montuno and tumbao grooves of Afro-Cuban jazz styles, while Primo leaps and glides in scales and arpeggios. Late Intermediate Piano Duet from “88 Constellations†a collection by Heather Cattanach featuring one piece of piano music for each of the 88 constellations (to match the number of keys on a standard piano). Performance Time 1 minute. 4 pages. (General Instructional, Modern, 20th Century, Repertoire, Recital, Latin, Jazz, 1 piano 4 hands).
