Rumba de Ruth is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Violin.

This duet is based on the traditional Rumba street music of Cuba. Rumberos sing semi-improvised melodies over the Rumba clave rhythm with other percussion added, and the accompanying dance is an integral part of the performance. The rhythms of Cuban Rumba have travelled all over the world, providing the foundations for Son and Salsa and the ballroom Rhumba among many other styles.

Singers like Misori Hibari and Keiko Fuji became huge cultural icons in Japan and helped lay the foundations for today’s confident and vibrant Japanese music scene. æ„›(Ai) aims to capture the spirit of this emotionally charged music.
