Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.591256

Composed by David McKeown. Easter,Latin,Pop,R & B,Rock. Score and parts. 3 pages. David McKeown #6290835. Published by David McKeown (A0.591256).

The Chocolate Chalypso is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Clarinet and one Violin

Chocolate Chalypso is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. In the late ‘50s just a handful of national TV shows in the US had a huge influence on the music and dance crazes of the time. Artists and dances came and went with dizzying speed. Chalypso was a short-lived craze in 1958 that combined the music of the new Rock’n’Roll with much-simplified steps borrowed from Cha Cha and Calypso; and no sooner had it caught on than it was itself supplanted by The Twist.

Chocolate Chalypso is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by some syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, Chocolate Chalypso is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Click the link above to listen to a full performance of the clarinet version of this duet on YouTube.

Walter has a young family and a responsible job as a vet, so he needs a good night’s sleep. His wife was surprised the first time, but she’s used to it now.

The main melody has many accidentals and challenging timing, while the faster middle section features irregular metre. The range is accessible for both players. Shall We Gather at The River is an American nineteenth century hymn often sung in a gospel style. This version is arranged as a duet for one Violin and one Clarinet.

Shall We Gather at The River was composed in 1865 by a Baptist minister from New York, Robert Lowry. As well as becoming a gospel standard, the melody of Shall We Gather at The River has found its way into compositions by Charles Ives and Aaron Copeland and has often been used in classic Western movies.

Shall We Gather at The River is simply arranged in keys and range best suited to the instruments. The hymn is played three times in a slow swing style, with a key change on the final verse and chorus. Click the link above to listen to a full Youtube performance of the Clarinet version of this duet.

Shall We Gather at The River is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, though the key change may require extra work for less experienced players. Wendy the Wonky Witch is a spooky and original duet written by David McKeown for one Violin and one Clarinet

Wendy the Wonky Witch is one in a series of ten Halloween-themed duets each presenting a portrait of a different Halloween character. All ten can be bought together in one collection by searching for 10 Spooky Halloween Duets for Violin and Clarinet.

Wendy tries her best, but she’s a bit of a failure at witching. She developed a fear of flying after her broomstick started chasing seagulls, and her tadpole stew, (which tastes of chocolate cake), explodes if left overnight.

Wendy the Wonky Witch is suitable for players at an advanced intermediate level and above. The main melody in 6/8 is medium fast with chromatic passages, while the slower middle section is a lyrical waltz. The range is accessible for both players.
