David McKeown #6293639. Published by David McKeown (A0.591376). The Easter Bonnet Bop is a fun and original duet written by David McKeown for one Clarinet and one Violin. The Easter Bonnet Bop is one in a series of ten Easter-themed duets each written in a different American dance style. The origins of the word Bop lie in the scat language of the ‘40s; Bop quickly became associated with the fast Bebop jazz of the period as musicians vocalised the offbeat rhythms of their angular melodies. Later in the ‘50s when Rockabilly and Rock’n’Roll first appeared, Bop was used to describe both the dance moves and the dance venues themselves. The Easter Bonnet Bop is suitable for players at an intermediate level and above, with the accessible key and range balanced by the fast tempo and syncopated rhythms and accidentals. With a playing-time of around one and a half minutes, The Easter Bonnet Bop is a perfect upbeat addition to any performance program, formal or informal. Instrumental Duet Clarinet,Instrumental Duet,Violin - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.578645 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Contemporary,Folk,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 8 pages. David Warin Solomons #2059779. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.578645). A combination of German and Australian wandering folk songs (Es es es und es and Waltzing Matilda) Journeymen (young craftsmen) in Germany used to be required by law to go from town to town to practise their skills rather than stay in one town, which gave rise to many songs, of which Es es es und es is the best known - (the words of that song mean it is a hard conclusion but I have to leave this town). These journeys were referred to as Walz so these workers went auf der Walz. The idea of travelling auf der Walz was also taken up in Australia (where they called it on the Waltz or on the Wallaby) and it gave rise to the famous song Waltzing Matilda, although, in the Ozzie song, the traveller was a swagman rather than a craftsman. So I have called this arrangement On the Wallaby.

Published by David McKeown (A0.588647). Salsa de Shibby is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for one Clarinet and one Violin. This duet is based on the style of Salsa. The name Salsa was first used in 1960s New York to describe the popular and commercial dance music made by Latin emigrés in the city. Most of the musical and structural ideas came straight from Cuban Son Montuno, but the lack of one single traditional root has allowed musicians from different Latin American countries to bring their own flavours to the music. Given the tensions between the US and Cuba, there have been accusations of cultural appropriation and Cubans dislike the word Salsa, but there is no denying the music’s worldwide appeal. If you play to an intermediate standard and upwards, then you and your audience will enjoy this piece. Rhythms should be lightly articulated, the melody should always flow, and following the articulation in the score will help convey the style. Salsa de Shibby has a performance time of just over two and a half minutes. You can listen to a full performance the Clarinet version of this duet by following the YouTube link above. There are many more top quality arrangements and compositions by David McKeown for you to browse at http://www.sheetmusicplus.com/publishers/david-mckeown/6203
