Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne (HWV 74) is a secular cantata composed by George Frideric Handel to a libretto by Ambrose Philips, of which the first line, Eternal source of light divine, provides an alternative title for the work. It was probably composed during January 1713 for a performance on 6 February 1713.

All the individual parts are included.

Composed by Johann Strauss Jr. Arranged by Diego Marani. Classical,Holiday,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 84 pages. Diego Marani #4808565. Published by Diego Marani (A0.528137).

Wiener Blut ('Viennese Blood' or 'Viennese Spirit') Op. 354 is a waltz by Johann Strauss II first performed by the composer on 22 April 1873. The waltz was chiefly noted by Strauss' biographers as the début of Strauss with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. 'Wiener Blut' is one of a handful of late works by Strauss that were not composed for the stage; at this point in his career he was concentrating on writing for the performing stage, and not for the ballroom, and had written at least two operettas before penning this waltz, with Die Fledermaus still to come.

This arrangement for sax choir includes the following parts: Eb Sopranino, Bb Soprano 1-2, Eb Alto 1-2-3, Bb Tenor 1-2-3, Eb Baritone 1-2, Bb Bass.

Composed by Kevin Timothy Austin. 20th Century,Contemporary. 67 pages. Kevin Timothy Austin #1791765. Published by Kevin Timothy Austin (A0.1027521).

A Steady Stream of Consciousness is an attempt to synthesize perceived polarities of reality: happiness vs. anger, life vs. death, and the indeterminate nature of life in the microcosm vs. the relative stasis of phenomena in the macrocosm. These dualities are represented in the juxtaposition of the two saxophone quartets (staged in stereo), the indeterminate rhythms of the typewriter in combination with the steady metric repetition of the rest of the ensemble, and the contradictory and often disjunctive mental pathway of the typist governed by the various writing prompts throughout the piece. The synthesis of all these conflicting elements into a seamless aural experience cedes to the philosophical notion that all reality is interconnected and that the dichotomies observed therein are in fact non-existent. Score and parts included in purchase. Typewriter reads the score.

Composed by Jeno Hubay. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Romantic Period,Standards. 17 pages. Phil Beaman #5012615. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.844678).

Maggiolata is the Italian name of an ancient Spring Festival celebrated on May 1st, hence the subtitle Song of May. Jeno Hubay, Head of the Violin Dept at the Budapest Academy of Music, wrote this piece to be as light and celebratory as a perfect spring day. My arrangement abridges and slightly simplifies this classical standard which was originally written for Viola and Piano. I reduced it from 6 1/2 minutes to 2 1/2 minutes by focusing on the recapitulation of the main theme but also included opening and closing cadenzas.
I have scored it for a Saxophone Octet; 1 Soprano, 4 Altos, 2 Tenors, 1 Baritone. The Soprano Sax has the melody throughout. The Altos and Tenors have occasional countermelody, but mostly pulse ensemble rich chords while the Bari sits on pedal tones. Overall, it creates a rich, balanced saxophone sound which utilizes the full range of the instrument. Fairly easy, but sounds more advanced with its full chords and the dramatic interpretation markings I have added.

Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Phil Beaman. Classical,Romantic Period,Sacred,Standards. 48 pages. Phil Beaman #6360027. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.845200).

Psalm 22 is a well-known and loved choral work by Felix Mendelssohn. I have here arranged it for Instrumental Octet. Since it no longer has lyrics to convey the meaning I have added extra markings and altered some harmonies and rhythms to add the appropriate interest and emotion. Several parts now contain short unmetered solos to be done freely in recitative fashion. The individual parts are not difficult with just basic notes and rhythms; the beauty is in the way they fit together creating harmony and polyphony. With a 6 minute performance time, this is a major work which bridges the Classical and Romantic eras.
