What if the song Uptown Funk had a sequel? And what if that sequel took the form of a corps-style drumline cadence? Smalltown Funk was written for the Winfield High School Drumline in 2016 in that headspace. From funky grooves that will get everyone in the stadium dancing to jarring metric changes that will keep the rest of the band on their toes, this jam is not for the student who is faint of heart, or the instructor who is short of patience (or ambition!). It features double strokes, triple strokes, 16th-note syncopations and metric modulations galore, and as is my style, contains an abundance of textures and sounds. It is as groovy as it is tricky.

Parade To The Arena is a high-energy Spanish/Latin style piece for marching band. It depicts the celebratory parade through the streets of town to the arena of the day's various sporting events.
