Nocturne of the Desert for solo alto/bass flute (unaccompanied) is a descriptive narrative songful depiction of the Sonoran Desert of the southwest at night.  The music is meant to express an organic musical depiction of a natural desert landscape and the animals that inhabit it.  Various descriptive ideas are marked in the part to help the performer visualize what is happening in the music and perform in character.  The duration is roughly 3:45.

Away in a Manger descant is for the AWAY IN A MANGER tune by James R. Murray and is based on the other hymn tune CRADLE SONG by William J. Kirkpatrick. What Child Is This descant is for the traditional GREENSLEEVES tune. Use hymnal or other source for accompaniment; descants for the hymns fit Lutheran Service Book (LSB) and Lutheran Book of Worship (LBW) settings, as well as the Lutheran Worship (LW) setting of What Child Is This. Descants may also fit other hymnal settings. Composed in 2021 and revised in December 2023, these tiny etudes (TinyTudes, Op.1) are designed to be challenging and instructive, as well as fun and amusing. 
They are not designed with building virtuosic technique in mind specifically, and there is no need to take the fastest possible tempos. If you want to “show off� with these pieces, try showing off your ability to bring out the contrasting styles. Show off your ability to be expressive without sacrificing accuracy, and vice versa.
Nos. 1 and 3 don’t have loads of detailed expressive nuances indicated. Some composers leave that to the performer more than others, and these give you the opportunity to practice shaping each phrase. In the other two, I’ve been more specific about the ups and downs, the pushes and pulls. In these, be as faithful as you can to each direction while finding the way to “make it yours�.
These TinyTudes are great for students and professionals alike.

In celebration of what are perhaps among the greatest gifts to the human palate, I composed this set of characteristic etudes based on several distinguished wines of France. Wine is beyond simply a beverage—it is a form of art in itself, elevated by centuries of refinement, and those of France in particular have been recognized by many as some of the finest specimens crafted.

“Set One� is devoted to red wines. 

Merlot, with scents of black cherry and plum, is a soft, well-rounded wine that makes an excellent introduction for those new to red wines (and an old favorite for the initiated).

The essence of Pinot Noir is delicate and fresh. These grapes are difficult to grow, rarely blended, yet yield no roughness.

The grande dame of French reds, Cabernet Sauvignon is full-bodied, firm, and gripping.

The second set illustrates white wines.

One of the most popular wines in the word, Chardonnay is velvety and voluptuous, with bold citrus notes.

Sauvignon Blanc reveals a wide palate of subtle flavors, granting the sensitive imbiber delicate hints of bell pepper, sour green fruits, apples, pears, and even tropical fruits. 

We finish with Semillon. Noted for its great strength of berry flavoring, it is often blended to delimit its strong character.

Hymntunes I contains deconstructed versions of three familiar Christmas hymns. The movements were deconstructed in the same way that much post-modern architecture or visual art is deconstructed. A deconstructivist building will have most of the elements of a traditional building. Some elements will be exaggerated (a window might be many times too large or too small) and some elements will be displaced (a doorway might be several feet from the wall, the roof might appear to float above the building). These preludes use similar techniques. Most of the elements of the original hymntunes are present but some are exaggerated, repeated many times, or used differently from the original. These chorale preludes use several unfamiliar techniques: slides between notes, arm vibrato, a doppler portamento, harmonics, and tremolos.

Written in 1732, this Christmas carol is traditionally associated with the zampagna, a large Italian bagpipe, so it is sometimes called the Carol of the Bagpipers.
This arrangement is for piccolo, 3 flutes, alto (which doubles 4th C flute) and bass flutes.  There is a small twinkly section as the Star descends.
