Ræswian is an Anglo-Saxon word meaning to deeply ponder and analyze a subject through various viewpoints. I have known Danielle for a few years now and the dynamic of our relationship has altered over time. For the primary material of this work I used the first three notes of a melody I composed for her a few years earlier. I freely work through this material in an old folk-song like manner to explore how differently its intervallic patterns can be perceived. A fun and energetic 4-Minute flute solo, inspired by the playing of Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull).  It covers the three Bs:  there's a lively, Baroque-sounding Bach section, a syncopated boogie section, and a Balkan inspired section in alternating 7/8 and 9/8 time signatures, all framed by a haunting, recurring slow motive.  I've written in the subdivisions of the Balkan section (e.g. 2+2+3+2) to help navigate the challenging time signatures.  Listening to the demo should help with the syncopated and Balkan sections - they are easier to feel than read for many.
